    Fuel cuts under hard acceleration

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was expecting, or maybe just hoping to see misfires but I'm not getting any codes. Based on my experience I'm guessing dv or the n75 valve. Any advice on how to check either or additional thoughts would be appreciated.

I have replaced both of those in the past but not really sure on life expectancy for either.

    Are you tuned?

Netiher N249 or N75 valve should cause fuel cuts

the only time I had this issue, was caused by the sparkplugs. they were all rusty.

Just to be clear are you telling us the problem or the root cause ?? have you confirmed its fuel cuts ?? because as mentioned what you suggested have zero to do with fuel ...

what is your actual reported problem ??
do you feel a loss of power under hard acceleration ??

Sorry I didn't consider how specific that title was, but yes, it's a loss of power. Very brief when it does happen, it will still go just fine other than that. Used to only happen right at 85 but that was years ago and this is more random.

Plugs is a possibility. Had to get a different kind since my favorites were discontinued. I probably need to check those anyway.

Stage 1 JHM and a few other things but nothing extreme.

I was not able to make it happen this morning. Half hour drive including highway and I was trying hard but didn't happen once. It's warmer but I wouldn't have thought it was weather related.

Plugs should be fine. I got the fr6kpp with lifetime supposedly 80k. Even if you cut that in half for mods and aggressive driving I'm still not there.

depends how you use the car. I dont use it much, short trip and winter stored. Idle and normal driving was fine, pulls the car cut hard.

so I guess it destroyed my sparkplugs, only 60k km on it.

It's my daily driver and my only car but I don't drive much other than to and from work. Probably average under 300 miles a week.

VCDS and fuel logs would help a lot here. JHM tunes tighten up parameters quite a bit.

Make sure plugs are gapped to 0.028 in. When I was Stage 1, I ran 0.032 and worked ok (NGK BKR7EIX Plugs)

Bosch FR6KPP332S plugs are Double Platinum plugs, due around 40k miles IIRC. In my opinion, switch to NGK Iridiums.

This might sound a little silly but when was the last time you swapped out your cam follower on your fuel pump?

Thanks, can I do fuel logs with the OBD eleven?

I don't remember where the plugs were gapped but I know they expand over time and if they're only 40k plugs then they are likely ready to be changed anyway. I picked some up but it's been cold again so haven't put them in yet. I grabbed both fr5kpp and the BKR8EIX to try out. You said you used the BKR7 on stage 1 but if I remember correctly that's the stock temp range. I had a great experience with the F5DP0R so I was hoping to find a colder plug that works just as well.

I did just change the cam follower about a month ago. After reinstall I was a little concerned about the bolts not being tight enough but I figured if that was the issue the symptoms would be more drastic and would've appeared sooner.

BKR8EIX is what I'm running now. Good plug. If I'm not mistaken it's fine to run a step colder when tuned however I never noticed much difference when Stage 1 vs 2 in regards to spark plug heat ranges (I have experienced both types of plugs with each tune). Refer to this for more info on spark plugs: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...ent-Guide-v2-0

If I'm not mistaken yes, but I'm a VCDS user. If you can pull up Measuring blocks or whatever the equivalent is in OBD Eleven you wanna look at fuel pump duty cycle (both pumps) fuel trim, and ignition blocks and see if fuel pressure drops or spark is all wacky. That would confirm if you really have a fuel or spark problem.

...Or since you already got the plugs, swap em in and see what happens 😄 takes 20 mins to do.

Thanks, that's what I thought too and most of my "knowledge" comes from that thread but it was so old I didn't know what might've changed. I tried the fr5dtc first, thinking it would be an easy transition being the same brand and heat range as the F5DP0R but I had some bad misfires that's why I ended up with the fr6kpp.

Just threw a CEL on my way home. Driving hard in tip, switched back to drive stopped driving hard and it popped up after just a couple seconds.

Not able to upload a picture for some reason but P0011, camshaft position bank1 timing over advanced.

N205 is known to go bad at higher mileages. This is most likely the cause. Check to see if there's oil in the connector and replace if so.

That's what I was suspecting but the code hasn't came back and I haven't had any issues since I changed plugs.
