    Piston Ring Fix Viability

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi all,

I am looking at purchasing a used b7 A4 avant and was wondering what the likelihood of piston rings failing for a second time is? The car is now at 140k miles with piston rings originally replaced at 60k by Audi. Is it possible that these will fail again and require a secondary replacement?

    TIA

Probably didn’t fail but maybe replaced due to oil consumption? Seems unlikely, but German cars like to waste oil so maybe no escaping that(?) Do a compression test if anything.

Not really an issue on the FSI(ea113), but can get clogged. Made worse by some thinking 10k OCI is ok, lol.
    To answer, they'll be fine..
