Hello,
I own a 2021 Audi Q7 3.0 with 57,000 miles. I purchased it from another country in a slightly damaged condition at the front (nothing serious). However, I’m unsure whether the transmission fluid has ever been changed, as I don’t see any record of it in Carfax.
In colder conditions, when driving at low RPMs in first or second gear, I occasionally notice a slight hesitation or "glitch" when releasing the gas pedal. However, this doesn’t happen consistently—perhaps only twice during a drive.
Shifting into Drive (D) or Reverse (R) doesn’t cause any noticeable glitch, but the gear engagement feels more sensitive than expected.
When shifting from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd, there’s no glitch, but I can feel the gear change. Meanwhile, upshifts to higher gears are very smooth.
As the car warms up, these symptoms become even less noticeable, but they are still slightly present.
I have two questions:
Could these symptoms indicate a mechanical issue requiring transmission repair?
I’ve heard that Audi considers the ZF8 transmission and its initial fluid "lifetime." However, I don’t fully believe this. If the fluid has degraded, should it be changed at this mileage? If the fluid level is low, should I top it off or perform a full replacement?
Thank you for your help!
