Question about wheel adapters

I have an A3 and am looking to size down my rims from 18 to 17. I found a great deal on 17 in wheels but the lug pattern doesn’t match. I would need adapters. What would be best for a wheel with an offset of 38 mm. Anyone have a similar experience?

You'll need to provide the width of the new wheels since that and the offset need to be taken into consideration.
