Broke ground wire on oil pressure sensor when replacing housing

Today I did my oil filter housing. When I was reinstalling the oil pressure sensor on to the housing, I noticed I broke off the ground wire that goes around the threads of the oil pressure sensor.

After I put on the new oil filter housing, I got the immediate Red Oil pressure warning and turned off the car. After inspecting the car, there were no leaks, car was running really smooth compared to before the replacement, so I am very confident that Its just the ground wire and Im not getting a proper read. Access is terrible. I know some people said they were able to get the sensor off while still on the car, but I don't see how that's possible. There is almost no room until you take the throttle body off and disconnect everything, but even then you are working blind or with a mirror. I drove the car home with zero issues.

Until I can go buy a soldering gun and redo it, can I unplug the Pressure sensor fuse to get the warning light to go away? Or will the ECU display the message either way? Which fuse controls the oil pressure sensor? I read on the b6 its fuse #5 on the drivers side fusebox, but not sure if its the same on the b7.

you have an early car as later they changed it ..leave it alone and dont mess with it anymore until you can fix it .. its just a light .. live with it ..

Well today I started the car and had some oil leak out. Going to retighten the oil cooler bolts and go from there. It wasn't leaking last night so I am wondering why this is happening. Perhaps cold weather shrinking things?

nope .... have to go back in there.. something is wrong...

i got to my sensor from the firewall side .. a but finicky but nothing serious .. but it has been a while .. i think you get the socket on .. then the ratchet if i remember correctly.

About to go back outside and take it off and reseat it. Its -10c right now and im absolutely dreading it, but I got work early tomorrow. Wish me luck

I purposely left the brackets off because I knew there was decent chance I would have to go back in, so I am hoping it takes 2 hours instead of 4 this time.

yeah these never break down in June when its warm and you can enjoy a beer while doing it ..

Took about 2.5 hours to re do everything. Installed everything slowly and fastened the bolts down evenly. Made sure both gasket was seated properly and no leaks after driving around for 20 minutes and getting to operating temp.

Hoping it doesn't mess up when I drive to work tomorrow but I think I fixed it.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! I had the same hiccup on my 2005.5MY.. the original 20 year old ground wire failed, and the replacement arrived with the wrong size fitting/grommet (too narrow). So I 'modified it' to fit lol. So far so good, but he car has only been driver ~10 miles the last 18 months. GASP

yeah that ground wire is a pain ..it is crimped and soldered.. sometimes the solder breaks free and becomes a loose connection..

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! I had the same hiccup on my 2005.5MY.. the original 20 year old ground wire failed, and the replacement arrived with the wrong size fitting/grommet (too narrow). So I 'modified it' to fit lol. So far so good, but he car has only been driver ~10 miles the last 18 months. GASP

I drove 50 miles since the reinstallation haven't had a failure so I think I did it right this time.

Yeah they made it super short too. I am debating if I should relocated it using a longer wire because trying to solder that short wire while attached to the car is going to be difficult. Everything down there is also covered in oil right now.

eclectically it would work if you get a good ground point .. Audi just ended up putting it right in the harness and made it a 2 pin plug. Come to think of it i may have done the same.
