Help, right brake light and rear right turn signal not working

Hi, this is for my son's 2006 Audi a4 b6 s-line convertible, 1.8t. 127k miles. Owned for less than a year. He has been getting intermittent light out messages, and fast turn signal. When this occurs the right rear turn signal is not illuminating. Now he is also getting a brake light indicator and rear right brake light is not working.

So I am trying to figure out the most likely culprit and a propper diagnostic order.

I already popped out the tail light and looked at the bulbs. They looked ok me, although one of the brake bulb solder points on the bottom looked a bit melted. I tried swapping with some other new bulbs I had, did not start working. Also swapped the turn signal bulb, no change. Although I am wondering if we needed to turn off the ignition to reset the module... I also looked for corrosion/burn marks on the plugs, bulb sockets, etc, I did not see any. I have not looked at anything up near the j519 yet.

My next step was going to be to replace the bulbs with new ones. I ordered the right replacement bulbs. Do some contact cleaning, and maybe run an extra ground at the bulb assembly.

Any input is appreciated. A new bulb harness seems hard to find. I was also wondering about being able to just replace the bulb sockets individually and soldering the pigtails into the old harness.

    Thanks

Sadly the Audi wiring from our era did not hold up well to heat. My suggestion is to trace the wiring and do a good visual inspection. Odds are that the shielding has crumbled away somewhere and is shorting out. Could possibly be inside the light housing itself, as is quite common inside the headlight body. Continuity check will go a long way in assisting you!

I was able to get the turn signal working. The metal prong that contacts the side of the bulb in the socket was broken. I just cut the wires to the socket and soldered them right to the bulb. Turn signal now works. I wish I could find a replacement bulb socket with wire pigtails.

Unfortunately brake light & combination taillight still not working.. more to investigate. I may temporarily do the same thing with this bulb.

I ended up bypassing the mini tail light socket as well. Now everything is working without any error messages. So if anyone else is dealing with similar issues it may be that the bulb sockets are the culprit.
