Hello peeps. I have never owned an Audi. I’m looking at getting an RS6 or a M3/4 XDrive. Both cars would be full bolt-on and tuned. I’m sure it’s been talked about before on here but was just wondering how has the reliability been for owners with these mods. I know the Beemer would be faster and people are having great luck with the S58. The wagon is pulling me in though and I just can see it in my garage on some aggressive wheels / lowered looking like a steamroller coming at you. Thanks for any insight

M3/M4's are a dime a dozen. RS6's are not. Both platforms are comparable in terms of tuned reliability, but the v8 can certainly take more of beating with better results if youre going FBO. Bigger turbos would be ideal with the RS6 if your looking to go 900whp+. I'm assuming youre comparing the RS6 to one of the AWD models of bimmer? Id lump the v8 AMGs in with these too. The hand built v8s are bulletproof and a FBO e63s is a rocket ship too. Ive had an f80 m3, c63s, e63s, s63s (current) and rs6 (also current) that were all tuned. The f80 burned oil like crazy and the b58 does as well. I never had an issue with the amgs and so far so good with my rs6 as well (knocking on wood).

Thanks for your reply bud. AWD for sure. No more High power RWD nonsense for me. FBO would be it. My GtR is fully built. That is my fast fast car:-) Just looking to replace my F-82

Well I own both, stock motors.
They are completely different cars…stock or tuned.

    I have both RS6 and M2 (G87).
Comparing the two aside from (A)WHP numbers is just impossible.
RS is boat that I recently took on a road trip from Memphis to LA and back and felt just fine while M2 was painful after 5hrs drive to Dallas.

On the other note - M2 is extremely nimble and fun to drive. RS in all its glory is boring as hell.
I'd say S58 platform is way more tunable and cheaper to do so as well. Also, significantly more aftermarket options for just about anything, from wheels, to aesthetics, .......

I guess you'd have to decide what is end goal for a vehicle. Something comfortable and smooth or nimble and fun

Leaning RS6 just for the exclusivity of it. Stage 2/wheels/suspension and call it a day. Sexy cruiser

The M2 was on my list. IMHO the RS6 is just so much cooler. I have other small fast cars. I don't know the exact numbers but I see M2s all the time. I rarely see RS6'.

I believe the RS6 production numbers, over the past two years, are under 1K per year (US deliveries). In Austin, I see a lot of fairly exotic cars -- but I've only seen an RS6 once. Pretty rare to spot one in the wild...

By a large margin yes is way cooler. And super rare to see. I’ve only seen 1 on the road in last 4 years and now see it every day.

I normally buy cars like this used with low miles but I knew the RS6 would be a long term car so I wanted it exactly to my spec.
