    Transmission Malfunction

Has anyone has this error come up?

The girl drives the car 90% of the time, and she's had this malfunction pop up twice now randomly. '24 with 7K miles.

We brought it into the dealer, and of course they don't see any issues.

I'm about to drop it off for the second time to have them look at it, but last time they just added fluid and drove it 30 miles to "test it".... I'm not keen on having them put 30 miles on it every time I bring it in to tell me they don't know what the issue is.

Will be a shame if we have to lemon law it.

    Any ideas?

Odb11 will give you the exact error code, you will need that to know if it’s a one time or a serious issue.

Did you disconnect the battery by any chance?

Just piggybacking off this thread.. has anyone else had a loud bang occur from somewhere under the shifter the moment you start the car? It's happened twice randomly but otherwise seems fine. Car was parked on a flat surface.

When you park do you park, as well as set the e-brake? Not that any transmission should do what you're reporting, but 'putting a car in park' I found is just a small pin that holds the gears in place. That's why you get that swaying sensation if you put it in park and have a touch of momentum or anything when you do / a hill. Perhaps your car has some occasional issue with cleanly releasing that pin due to tension. Would try getting in the habit of always setting the e-brake when parking to reduce stress on that component. It may also never have that scenario again where it makes that loud noise. Just a thought!

For the OP with the transmission error -

SST / dual clutch transmissions have a dedicated gear / clutch for reverse. I would speculate you're having an issue with that gear/ clutch as that is super abnormal. I don't know if adding fluid would help, perhaps a full flush of fluid to see if any debris is fouling up that gear is at play, but it feels like you have a sketchy transmission which is unfortunate. Your dealership/Audi should stand behind that. Perhaps find a better dealer to work with. Sucks and sorry you have to deal with that...

    Thanks.

I also suspect a faulty transmission. We got the error for the 3rd time today.

IDK, i drove the car all day yesterday and nada, and she takes it to work today and the message comes on.

I drive pretty exclusively in RS mode, she usually drives in Dynamic. IDK if that would matter.

I think all 3 times it has happened, she's been getting on the freeway, so it must have something to do with multiple shifts in a row.

We drop it off to Concord Audi this weekend, I'll update if I learn anything.
