With the cold weather the rodents seem to love the air filter compartment, just found nest number 2. The car is garaged 99% of the time, but somehow they still managed to get in there.no other damage fortunately. Im going to start keeping the hood open as a precaution. I havent had this sort of interest from rodents in my other vehicle’s, they must know the q7 is my favorite?

I use stainless wire mesh to make a rodent guard. Had to do the same thing on my 4Runners. The smell of rodent is so nasty!

I've been having this issue on and off for a while. Where do you put the wire mesh to keep them out?

For the C5, over the entire cabin filter since it just sits in that tray and nothing is stopping them from chewing in the side or top of it. For anything else with a cowl entry (but cabin filter inside the vehicle) I put the mesh right over the entry, it helps to make a template out of cardboard and then fold the wire according to the template before install. I haven't actually installed one on my Q7, it has not had any issues with rodents, but man those things love to try to get into the C5's and literally every Toyota I've ever had!

So, they were getting inside the car through the cowl? I haven't noticed any issues in my Q7 yet. They used to get into my S4 but only in the engine bay. I'd see droppings on the intake manifold and they would eat the insulation on the firewall.
