I just used tire rack. I was shopping against Michelin MPAS4 in the same size, but the MPAS4 weigh 4lbs more per tire, and were about 120 bucks more for 5.

    So no deals, lmao

Snagged this off ebay on the cheap. It's ok, more importantly the latch and hooks are intact.

I really need to go junkyard hopping and see what I can score. It's been a very long time since I've had anything in a vintage that would allow the the great treasure hunt in the yards.

Brakes too! You know, “while you’re in there” lol

Most folks have gone with the 345mm Macan/Q5 fronts and S4 rears.

Unless you covered your plans for brakes already and I missed it somewhere.

I bought pads and rotors, still have to confirm full functionality from all 4 calipers. I'll end up tuning on the K03 before I upgrade brakes.

I have been eyeing up the swaps/kits to get some real brakes on her. Just a lower priority right now.

Weed wacker line cleared the front drains. Rear drains, ugh, still need to be addressed and possibly re-attached.

Cabin air filiter housing is missing its upper rear half, lmfao. Looks like it was long overdo for a change.

Sunroof gasket was falling off in the rear. I prepped with 91percent Isopropyl alcohol, and just used "Right Stuff" rtv to glue it back on. Left it clamped for 24 hours. Wiped down the whole gasket and the roof sealing surface. She seems to be holding and watertight!! If it fails I'll use urethane caulk, some 3m Window Weld or similar.

Cleaned out all the BS from the "battery compartment". What ever you want to call it, lol. Lots of vacuuming, leaf blowing. Cleared the drains. Dried off the ecu. Should be good to go. Had a ton of leaves up in there. Car ran fine, no issues, so this is just maint.

The ECM being wet, yikes. Have had 5 A4's and definitely try to keep up on the drains...learned that lesson with the first B5, which flooded the cabin with water.

    Heavy rains, hatch still dry!

    Sunroof repair was a win!

JHM is probably going to get some of my money. Tuning, hpfp upgrade, and shifter mods.

I'd highly recommend Motoza for tuning. Custom, dialed in tuning is always nicer than an OTS tune. And it's prob even cheaper to boot.
    Much better option.

I've used Accessports, SCT, and HPtuners. Have remote custom tuned many times across many platforms. I've pulled hundreds of datalogs over the years, what's a few more? lmfao

Just peeked at Motoza, I'll take a look at their software and do a bit of digging. Would be nice if it could replace Vagcom sonce I havnt pulled the trigger on that yet.

So yes, looks like an excellent suggestion! I have E85 local, my Bullitt is currently on it, not sure if I'd go that route since this is suppossed to be a daily (fuel mileage)but nice to see them mention it!! Ugh, I'm going to turn this "dd" into a street legal racecar again. What a curse to live with. Just have to modify the crap outta stuff, lol

you need to “pull the trigger” on a vag com hex v2 setup before you even think about doing a single thing to your car

Lmao, already have done plenty. An advanced proprietary scan tool and suite is a necessary item on my list, I just have no reason to own it today. Car is in pieces. Also the 4th car in my driveway, so it can stay in pieces as long as it takes.

Going to install everything I have, then grab it. Make sure everything is right as rain, adjust a few ecu/bcm settings, and then move on to tuning.

At this point, going to dive into a few threads on it to see all it's capability. Im assuming its the same as Jscan, Forscan, Focccus softwares. Allowing the altering of values to change settings, manipulate modules individually (ABS brake bleeding ftw!), and other cool tinkering.

My audi currently has no stored codes, and was in running condition before I took it into service mode.

So as long as I dont fux anything up, it should be back to cruising once put it back together. Going to have to vet it, get some miles on her, then progress into datalogging, boost leak testing, and verifying its good to tune.

Correct, VCDS can do pretty much anything you need, except tuning and keys(on b7). Scanning, data logs, live data, coding, etc. Must have if working on VAG cars.

Purchased the Vag Com setup straight from Ross tech. They're based in Lansdale, which is about 45 min north of me, small world!

Just went enthusiast with the V2 cable. I have a seperate thinkpad that I use for logging and tuning, so corded is fine with me. That wireless setup had me tempted though!!

Popped off the valve cover. Geez, that gasket was hard as plastic, and leaking everywhere!

Going to tear into the cam chain stuff tomorrow. Get that squared away. In the process of that, Im replacing all the coolant flanges and hoses.

    2 things:

    1. that 034 mount is not supposed to be used without the 034 bracket. you might end up having a thunk or two under high torque, there’s too big of a gap with the stock bracket for anything other than soft foam to slam into.

    2. as a general rule don’t ever put anything from uro parts on your car under any circumstances. Grab one from NTN or Litens, they’re the oem’s. rockauto usually stocks them for cheap if you can track down the part number.

    Lmao!

Im going to run the tensioner for now.

The snub mount, i'll do some more research on. If I gotta buy the socket side of it, then be it.

Well, the snub mount is a direct OEM replacement, and can be used with the OEM bracket.

Their bracket can also be used, to further reduce engine motion, but isnt necessary.

So I'll run the snub in the OEM, and if I want to go a step further, then I'll grab their bracket.

Additionally, my Vag Com stuff is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

I canceled the Uro Parts order, and got the correct design INA through rock auto.

Yeah, over the years Uro parts has been mostly miss it seems. Rather avoid them for this build. Solid heads up!

I just went stage 2 with my A4 a few weekends ago. The JHM tune is by FAR the cheapest. I got lucky on the timing, and JHM had nice 15% off deal at time for Valentines day. came out to $503, WITH THE CABLE. this a few hundred dollars cheaper than other tunes out, and the general consensus ive seen is that the JHM tune is the most aggressive tune you can get for the B7s.

As for driving with the tune now, its been very much worth it. the car really kicks in with the boost, and is quick and responsive at anything above 2700. more than enough umph to pass when needed on the freeway, and will still plant you in your seat on a launch. still working on the supposed launch control that comes with the car, I live in that city and banging my essentially straight piped car generally attracts a lot of attention.

Also, I have had the 034 stiffer front engine support for 4 years now, and have had zero issues with it. rubber is still firm and isnt cracking at all. if the engine is flexing, i dont seem to feel it.

When I did the tune, unitronic was the cheapest, safest (conservative), and I believe it still the case,

unitronic stage 2 is at 380$usd for spring sales right now.

Well, got cam timing stuff off. Polydrive bolt came out with some force.

Chain tensioner looked great, all pieces were intact.

Im all set to start replacing coolant fittings, then new chain timing stuff, and button the engine back up.

    Then, aftermarket parts!!!

Also, i have some spots to clean, dry, prep and paint. Trying to prevent stuff from rotting out.

Well, the coolant fitting/hose kit I got from ECS contained the rear coolant flange, temp sensor, both heater core hoses and the thermostat. So I replaced all those components. All of them looked pretty darn good, but I have everything apart, so I'm replacing whatever I can. Wish it had upper and lower rad hoses, plus the additional little hoses. It was far from complete given all the coolant hoses on the 2.0. I may buy a few more pieces, before I flush and refill.

Getting the T-stat housing was a bit more involved than anticipated, lol. Its all good though. Really learning how Audi likes to hide fasteners and whatnot, good stuff to learn.

Cart with all the tools I used on the audi so far.

My Bullitt lent its battery to the Audi, and is now an additional place to put audi parts/tools on, lmfao!!

Just a shot of some of what Im working with. Idk, just took it for no real reason.

I think I'll get the timing chain stuff done after work tomorrow, then hopefully get the valve cover back on. That would be a great step in the right direction.

    Started cleaning parts for reassembly.

After burning through 2 cans of brake clean on the VC, I really could use a parts washer, lol

Going to get another case of brake cleaner.

Had a couple beers, and thought about my next steps

That lead to me buying some stuff.

    Motoza HPFP upgrade

    Motoza stage 2+ custom tuning

    RS4 Injectors.

So I guess I'll be cleaning my intake valves and swapping injectors next week.

Eventually I'll actually drive the thing, lmao

*edit* Was reading some posts on here, and snagged the R8 fuel controller too. I'm not sure why, well, I have E85 around the corner, so maybe it makes sense.

    Idk. Lmao

Ok, so looking for any additional input.

My coolant system is currently "drained"

So I figure I'll do the valve cleaning and injector swap, maybe the oil cooler and oil filter housing gaskets.

Anything else I should go after with all this being open? lol

    wow you go all in!

I dont think there's other item of concern in that area. Oil filter housing is a must for sure.

Dont forget to put back the intake dividers. I carbon clean mine and the divider were in a bucket and forgot to put it back lol. 60k km no divider and all good. best case I have less surface to accumulate carbon.

Maybe drill out the fuel rail opening? some did that and said it help to high fuel pressure stability.

On those engine I might consider a catch can and meth kit.
Im ruining both on my B7 and 50k km after carbon clean Ive checked the TB and valves and they were like new. Also help my tune since the map is on 93 oct and Ive access only on cheap 91 here.

a plug and forget kit from bosphorus innovation, cheapest kit and it work very well. Ive used a 250cc, and my windshield washer tank for a ''OEM'' low meth warning

    Good points!

    Lol on the intake dividers!

Isnt there a crank position sensor or knock sensor back there? I'll grab that too.

W/mi is great for cleaning and a bit of fueling, I'm not opposed
to it, but its not on this go round. Gotta draw the line somewhere, or else I'll never have it on the road, lmao

Keep in mind, RS4 injectors aren't ideal, S3 have the correct spray pattern for these, since they're from an ea113. I seen Motoza has them listed so curious to see how tuning goes, hopefully no smoke.
R8 controller def helps, so good choice.

Yeah, I saw S3 and RS4 injectors. ECS had a set of RS4 for 310-ish so I just snagged them. If it becomes a problem, I'll swap them i have noticed quite a few big turbo builds running the RS4, so they can't be totally terrible, lmao

Do you happen to know a thread comparong the S3 to RS4 injectors? I should give that a google.

IDK of a thread, it's just info from over the years.
$310 sounds cheap, even for RS4..
You said ECS, they weren't Bremmen brand hopefully.? Bremmen is ECS 's rebranded China special brand, and all junk.

    Lmao, yep, Bremmen. Well,

Geez, another brand to avoid, lol

Fcp euro has the oem's at 211 each.

I'll probably roll the dice on the bremmen. See what the datalogs have to say about their function, and hope they work for a year or two.

Time for a google dive, and see how the Bremmen injectors fail.

    Initial research, oomph.

Probably going to return the Bremmen.

Still trying to find a good price on OEM/Hitachi S3 or RS4 injectors

    https://www.europaparts.com/fuel-inj...9906036ab.html

Ok, these are OEM, and reasonably priced. Europa parts is in Piscataway NJ, so shipping should be quick. Quick search shows them as a legit vendor .

Last round of parts had a few beers involved, so I didnt research as thoroughly. Smh...

I got injector seal kits from ECS as well. Those I'll end up using. I hope these injectors have the teflon seals installed, lol

Time to look up if these are plug and play. I got a bit wild with this path. Time to sort it all out.
