    Help....?!? Multiple issues with a 2013 Q5 - intake runner and epb problems

    Hey folks-

    I'm pretty baffled here. 2013 Audi Q5. I just pulled and rebuilt the motor for a guy because of the usual ring issues. The rebuild went fine. But I am having multiple issues, and the car barely tries to start.

    I got several codes: p0343, for camshaft position sensor. I replaced the sensor, and at least that code went away and has stayed away. But I keep getting P2016 (and P2014 occasionally too), - "intake manifold runner position sensor/ switch circuit bank 1a". FWIW, the car barely cranks and usually doesn't start. However, when it does, the car runs and drives just fine (except for the frequent parking brake warnings).

    I've followed all the specific instructions from Ross-tech about intake runners on the 2./0 TFSI - prerequisites and all, but VCDS keeps giving me green error messages that it won't or can't run the test/adaptation for safety(?) reasons or something similar. I'm really getting frustrated at this point! FWIW, I stole an intake runner position sensor from a good donor motor and installed it - it made no difference.

    Also - when this car showed up here, the EPB wasn't working. The last garage that saw the car tried to fix the problem, but gave up, and just decided to unplug the EPBs let the owner fend for themselves on getting it fixed elsewhere. I don't know what they tried. I mention this because I've been trying to use VCDS to get into that EPB controller and try to put the car into "start lining change mode". Again, having followed all the VCDS instructions, I only get the red message: "ERROR: conditions not correct or request sequence error".

    (I was about to go pull the rear brakes and manually retract the EPBs in the hope that it might do some good at least as far as the EPB goes. (And i know not to even try to fool with VCDS with the rear brakes out, etc. But I don't know if that might only make the EPB situation worse...)

    Can anyone help steer me in the right direction?

    Good point! - I was beginning to wonder about the battery and/or starter motor. I had the battery charging up overnight and it started OK (if not immediately) the one time I tried it today so far. Let me go check....

    - So -resting voltage is at 13.2 v seems pretty good, and when cranking, it drops to 11.5v, which I hear is also OK. Now the car starts OK, but it consistently cranks over for a pretty long time before actually firing up. And each time I get those codes again - P2014, P2016, and this time the P0343 is back again too (camshaft position sensor A circuit high bank one or single sensor).

    We still haven't figured this out.

    The car now has a brand new battery, and the cat was suspect, so that got swapped out too, with new sensors. And the car still barely starts, and is still misfiring badly. FWIW, the starter will spin the motor over for maybe 10 seconds, and then it will fire up. And it doesn't seem like the motor is trying to start for those first 10 seconds - there's no hints of any cylinders firing at all. But then it just starts. My uninformed guess is that this is an ECM issue, maybe like a "limp mode" of sorts.

    The most recent codes:
    P0341 -camshaft sensor (we've seen this intermittently)
    P0016 -camshaft correlation (this is the first we saw on that
    "idle control system" code (P0560? I'm not sure on that code number) - the first time we've seen this code
    and lots of random misfires (P0300 through P0304)

    I already replaced the camshaft position sensor once, and I guess I will pull the top timing cover and make sure the cams are where they should be at TDC, in case I somehow messed up when installing a new timing kit. (I've done lots of timing belts and timing chains over time, and haven't messed one up yet. But I'll go double check.

    This is the first time we've gotten that P0016 "camshaft correlation" code too. My guess would be that its a transient code, probably related to the P0341 code that we're frequently getting.

    Any guesses where else we might look?
