    No start after water pump replacement

    Haven’t been on the forum in ages as the B5 is gone and the wife’s A5 has been bullet proof until now. 2014 B4 2.0 TFSI. Water pump started leaking at 125,000 miles. Search the forum, read the DIY articles. Get the pump replaced and buttoned back up. While I’m in there, replace the spark plugs. First attempt to start, it does start, runs very rough, flashing CEL. Runs for 19-20 seconds and dies. Not will crank but wont start. Pulled the #1 plug and I am getting spark there.

    Removed coils and plugs, nothing obvious. Put old plugs back in, same symptoms.

    Don’t believe I missed any harness connections when reassembling after water pump replacement.

    What am I missing?

    Did you pull the intake manifold off to do the job? And if so did you happen to maybe pull the fuel pump fuse since you have to disconnect the fuel line to the pump?

    No, left the manifold in place.

    To close the loop. Last night dug back in, removed the throttle body and other interferences. Didn’t find any connectors left disconnected. Disconnected and reconnected all the harness and sensor connectors. And it started. Ran rough for a few seconds and then smoothed out. Maybe had a harness plug not seated? Anyhow, have a CEL, but hopefully just need a reset.
