Here is the Audiworld article that I used to retrofit a set of 2021 RS5 sportback seats: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-...rofit-3055173/, it's the first article

    "Hello all,

As per the title of this thread I've recently retrofitted the super sport seats from the S4 into my A4. My A4 only had manual heated seats with lumbar support so there was a bit of extras work to be done in order to get the full elective movement to work.

Luckily my seats also came with the memory module fitted to it to this actually made my seat memory work. If you want seat memory working you will also need the door card with the buttons for the memory, as well as wiring the seat if it doesn't already come with the module for it.

So this is actually nothing complex to get this all working and was more of me just doing the research to find out what exactly was needed:

To start with I purchased this wiring kit from kufatec https://www.kufatec.com/en/comfort-r...audi-mlb-48893

This is the correct kit to give you extra power to the seats. You only need one of these to power both seats. On the wiring harness there will be 2 pins leading to the same 2 pins, this part is for both of your front seats. They will need to be wired into the male connector that's in the floor. To remove this you can simply take out the black surround that the seat wiring connects to and then you can remove the red male plug from the other side. Make sure to disconnect the red female plug from the seat first. The 2 pins connect into slot 17 & 5. The wires will be numbered as to which one goes where. Then route the cable through to the other seat and repeat on this side. I routed my cable under the carpets through the centre console. On the sides of the centre console under the plastic trims i made a small hole in the carpets to feed the wires through. This made it easier as the carpet continues under the centre console and you cant see the hole as it sits under the plastic trims.

Once you have wired the other seat then head towards the fuse box / BCM area (this is for RHD vehicles not sure about LHD). You want to head for the T73a module which is the middle connector of the 3 black plugs. This cable is to be inserted into pin 25. Then lastly you will need to head into the fusebox and power it. Personally i just used a fuse tap as I was being lazy however power it as you wish. Once this is all done plug the red connectors on the seats back in and test out the power. You should be able to move the seats like normal and massage should begin once button is pressed! However you will notice there is no MMI control and massage / lumbar cannot be adjusted as it should be. This is where our last wiring comes in.

If you inspect the red drivers seat female plug and look at pins 13 & 14 (numbers may be wrong I can't remember exactly) there are 2 can bus wires. One orange green and one orange purple/brown. These 2 cables need to tap into the canbus to finish up the seats. Again remove the red male plug from the car and insert male can wiring into the corresponding pins for can wires. I wired them to the gateway underneath the rear seats. I found wiring it directly under the carpets too difficult so I took it back into the centre console and then through the centre console to the rear of the vehicle. Then over the hump in the middle back seat and into the gateway module under the rear bench. The orange green wire needs to connect into pin 15 and the orange brown into pin 33. Now connect everything back up but don't reassemble just yet in case something is wrong.

Some coding needs to be applied I can't remember it all I will put it here as I go along:

    09 Long Coding: 07501B43E17B00CD050557191BAC84F913CB31040000000000 00000060001A810AC501B302BE05
    36 Long Coding: 007813000000B0010000010101010000000000000000000000 000000000000

    Address 5F 8W5 035 036 C channel ENG122227-ENG117556-Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_seat_configuration adapted from not activated to activated
    Address 5F 8W5 035 036 C channel ENG122227-ENG117558-Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_seat_configuration_over_threshold_hig h adapted from not activated to activated
    Address 5F 8W5 035 036 C channel ENG122229-ENG117723-Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-driver_seat_0x10_msg_bus adapted from CAN_MIB to Terminal 15
    Address 5F 8W5 035 036 C channel ENG122229-ENG125834-Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-Seat_Pneumatic_msg_bus_0x3B adapted from CAN_MIB to Terminal 15

Then after this is done it should all be working!

Seat memory and massage / lumbar fully functioning as per S4 factory

If you have any questions let me know i will do my best to answer them

    Thanks"

The Kufatec kit is to get extra power for the massage function and to get the linbus connection to the Central Electronics module. The linbus wires connect to pin 17 in both red seat female plugs and pin 25 in the T73a connector which is the middle connector on the central electronics module. The power feed connects to the pin 5 in both red seat female plugs and a hot when key on 12 volt source from the fusebox under the dead pedal. To my knowledge, most US spec A4s has seat memory, so you wouldn't have to worry about running the canbus wires from pins 13 and 14 from the driver seat red female plug to the gateway module under the rear seat. Make sure the save the original coding of the 09 (Central Electronics) and 36 (Driver Seat Memory Module) before changing the coding. I used VCDS for coding and all I changed was activating the second bit and deactivating the third bit under byte 19 in the 09 module. However, I did have to replace both lumbar support/massage modules because the 2021 modules did not work in my 2017.

I have a 2020 b9 sq5 (LHD), installed sport seats (Heat, massage and lumbar) using kufatec wiring kit, passanger side is working as it should all functioning 100% normal. Driver side, however, does not work for lumbar or massage, (heat and movement work).

I followed these instructions with coding and adaptations as above.

I code 09 central and it immediately lights on digital dash "adaptive lighting error."

check dash for faults, "coding incorrect fault." but lumber comfort access works on the driver seat now, so I know its wired/ powered etc...

If revert to original coding in 09 central, dash goes back to normal and the incorrect coding fault will clear, and the lumbar comfort access continues to work.

Ive used kufatec wiring....... its installed following the steps. I am confused......

further more. these seats are out of a retro fit b9 q5 car. so they were previously installed retro fit into a b9 then into my b9.

to be clear, I have used both coding pieces from above, both 09 central and 36 driver seat have no faults after coding, only dashboard does, showing incorrect coding and has adaptive light and pre sense lights on dash. also the seat massage and lumbar are not functioning.

I have live data from the seat and none of the lumbar or massage buttons are showing as working live. which is strange. or a coding thing ?!?

    any help here ???

I will say of things to note, the coding above when entered as above with a space, does not fit and it says incorrect , if I take away the space it fits and will accept the coding change, but faults occur.

The coding from my article is for a RHD A4 so that is most likely the cause for the adaptive lighting fault. I would just activate the second bit and deactivate the third bit under byte 19 in the 09 module.

I had the issue of putting 2021 (which is B9.5) seats into my 2017 (which is B9) where the driver seat massage did not work at all. All I did was buying used 2018 (which is B9) seat lumbar support assemblies that came with the lumbar/massage module. I actually still have the 2021 modules in my garage, if you want to test to see if that would fix the issue with the driver seat, I can send them out to you.

    thanks for the reply!!!!!

These super sport seats are from another b9 q5 retrofit that was fully installed kufatec style and working 100%. dont believe i need any lumbar pieces as this was already working retrofitted to another local b9 q5 owners car. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE OFFER!!!!!!! I reverted back to stock file for 09 and only changed byte 19 bit 2 and 3, coding accepted, no faults, still driver seat inoperative for massage and lumbar.

things to note - when lin bus wire is removed from driver seat, lumbar functions come to life fully, but comfy access stops working, so only thing not working is massage. but if I plug in the lin bus wire again, comfy access comes back but lumbar buttons stop working again.......its like the lin bus is sending 2 signals and is doing strange things because of this.

    anyone ?

thanks all i feel like im so close, HAS TO BE CODING !!!!!!

anyone else think its just coding ?

ive tested all wires to ensure nothing has been pinched on install, all voltages from fuse box to red connector at seat and ohms check of lin bus disconnected on my both sides (bcm and red connector at seat) have tested good (indicating a solid install wire wise)

    thanks again all !

Hello! Appreciate you both for providing information on this topic. I recently bought a set of sport seats and am planning to install shortly.

GT3RS, so just to confirm you said you have now completely undone this below and only modified the one bit as suggested by Rayboo? You said that you had reverted back to stock file for 09 but was this for 36 as well?

Rayboo - I read your part about concern between the compatibility between B9 and 9.5 generations of lumbar module. I also wanted to confirm though that you are saying to do none of what I have quoted above from the original article but rather “ activate the second bit and deactivate the third bit under byte 19 in the 09 module” ONLY as you said and thus leave module 36 untouched?

I should be getting my S port seats in about a week or so time so then I can try some of these things myself. GT3RS maybe then I can help give you a better idea of coding vs hardware.

Here’s the 09 module coding from my car:

B9 A4 Modified 09 Central Electronics Module Coding with Xenon Headlights and Super Sport Seats
    C0 05 07 6B 45 69 0C CD 01 15 86 14 10 2C 18 FB 10 0B 3D 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 04 00 1A 00 22 61 00 02 00 12 04

And here’s the 36 module coding from my car:

B9 A4 Modified 36 Driver Seat Memory Module Coding (With Super Sport Seats)
    01 5C 1B C0 00 0E B0 01 00 00 81 81 81 81 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

For the 09 module coding, all I changed is activating the second bit and deactivating the third bit under byte 19 in the 09 module. And for the 36 module, I changed the coding for byte 11 through byte 14 from 01 to 81.

So I have some more info,

I went to a vw coding wizard,

He was able to code it and clear faults etc the passanger seat is now working 100% no additional wires other then the kufatec kit. The.mmi now displays when buttons on side of seat are pressed. Its 100% oem installed all displaying perfectly.

    Driver seat....

Still same thing, he's coded everything as it should be coded, no faults whatsoever now, still doesn't work, still goes into and out of comfort access mode when I open and close the door.

So my car is a b9 2020 sq5 already had can wires on both driver and passenger seats. He asked me to add the can wires anyways from the driver seat to the gate way under rear seat. I did that, no change to anything.

I don't get why I would add can wires when can wires are already on the body harness and all pins on seat match to pins on body side. No extra wires...

I'm at a loss now. I've followed every single instruction. Pass side works so oem perfect.

Pls talk more about the lumbar module? Why would that be needed only for driver side to work.

Thanks to all.for keeping this alive. Love the seats but not worth it at the moment.

Unless I was sold a bad driver seat......

    I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!!
this should have worked with ease......

It was the valve block inside the seat. I decided to move the valve block from pass seat which works perfectly over to the driver seat. All is working. Date code on valve block for interests sake is a 2020 module going into my 2020. As soon as I swapped blocks my driver seat came to life.

If anyone else is having problems after coding check the valve block!!!!!

So to summerize for everyone as this has taken weeks for me.

If you have CAN wires present factory, if you have factory memory seats etc. You do not need to add CAN wires for mmi to operate. I have only used the kufatec harness only.

Follow the install instructions. From above exactly. All should be well if your seats are good.

    ----- RAYBOO

I may need to take u up on the offer if thr module is the same as the one I'm talking about. I need a valve block and all is well with my seat swap!
This is what the forums are about i hope this extra info helps someone in the future.

    Any questions reach out!
