    2021+ SQ7 as a family hauler

    Hey all,

After spending the last 6+ months researching the perfect vehicle for my needs I am going to pull the trigger at some point in 2025 to buy a 21' + SQ7. I have watched countless hours of videos of this model on Youtube, but I have one question that hasn't been answered yet from videos....

    Middle row car seats!!

I have two forward facing car seats I need to use, but I also need enough room for my 8 year old to sit between them. Does anyone know if this is possible, and would it be comfortable for him to sit between? I would look in person but there are no SQ7's within 50 miles of me at this time to check out.

I'll be using two Graco SlimFit3 LX 3in1 car seats forward facing.

Another question.... anything I should look out for when I test drive one? Any common problems I should identify before purchase?

You should be fine with your 8yo sitting between the seats. My MIL has been known to sit in the back with my two, in their seats.

I’ve had a ‘20 for about 6 months and it’s a hilarious car. Love driving it. But, nothing about the SQ7 is cheap. Unless you’re a master mechanic with your own shop, do yourself a favor and get a CPO. The water pump on mine went out at 39k miles and it would have been a $4k bill, if it weren’t for the CPO warranty.

It’s a great family hauler, you’ll enjoy it.

Take your car seats when you test drive it. There's nothing worse than getting home with a new car and finding out the seat doesn't fit.

I have one, and it's irresponsibly fast for a family hauler. You'll love it.

Perhaps there's a Q7 close by. Same size interior as the SQ7

Just go find a Q7 locally. It's perfect for a family hauler, I have an SQ8 and it fits the whole family, tons of gear and tows like a dream. You'll get even more room with the SQ7.

I know i'm stating the obvious here, but the SQ7 has three rows. Why cram him in between the car seats when he is perfect for the "way back"? My kids are 14 and over 5 feet but they are slim enough where they both still fit back there.

I'm also not far from you if you want to see mine up close.

Like others said, bring the seat with you and check out any Q7 close by. I will say, it won't be an issue. The nice thing about the Q7 is the third row. Not great for an adult, but 8 year old kid, no problem.

We have a 2022 SQ7 and it's been excellent with my 2 kids. they're out of car seats though so hard to comment on that part but i imagine they'll fit no problem.
