My first post here hoping someone can help me, I’ve a 2016 Audi A4 2.0 TDI, I’m getting fault code P0087 Low fuel rail pressure, the car also goes into limp mode when the code is active. Under normal driving the car drives perfect no fault codes and full power but if you accelerate harshly it will take off up until the top of the rev range then hits limp mode and fault code is active. Also to mention think it’s possibly related to this is that the car has had a minor hesitation when hitting a hill or when under extra load but usually clears in higher revs for maybe 8 months roughly but it’s not been that major to be concerned now that a real issue is popping out to me I’m thinking they could be related. I’ve changed fuel filter but no difference has been made, checked max fuel pressure before car goes into limp mode and it get up to roughly 175MPA. There is no metal shavings in the regulator to point at HPFP. I had injector 3 come loose on me a few weeks ago but have since changed the stretch bolt and haven’t had issues since. While changing stretch bolt I had broken the over flow pipe so got one from breakers yard, potentially dirt was in that pipe and is blocking something I’m not sure but I’m stuck on this.

I thought rail pressure was supposed to be around 200 MPa (29,000 psi). Is it possible your pump lobes are worn and cannot generate the requested pressure?

It could be but seems unlikely as the cars only done 122k miles with tons of service history

Just to give my situation a verdict for any others that potentially have the issue, my injector was cracked, bad injector seals got a new injector new seals and new stretchbolt sorted the hesitation and low fuel pressure
