    Just hit 175K miles

Purchased my 2011 B8 S4 new in 2010. Scoured the forums to help me with the build (sports rear diff and B&O sound added and were great recommendations).

Just hit 175,000 miles. Kept it stock except for brakes (power slot rotors, ss lines, hawk hps pads) and wheels.

Amazing how solid of a car this has been. Granted, mostly commuting miles.

Apart from scheduled maintenance the only issues were a few of the common ones: Thermostat at 60K, finally bit the bullet and had had the PCV done at 150K. Other that that: LF wheel bearing went at 120K, hood latch sensor and hvac blower motor went at 130K, a few minor oil leaks (valve cover gasket and a few others). I'm most impressed that the DSG has lasted this long - I did get it serviced every 40K. Suspension definitely needs doing now, but it's not horrible.

Fingers crossed it lasts me a bit longer, but if it blows up tomorrow I can't complain! Considering the reliability, sort of makes me want to stay with Audi for my next car even though I'll likely try something new.

So, for folks looking at the B8, here's one vote that these cars can last quite long if maintained.
    Cheers.

I owned my 2015 S4 6MT from 30k to 148k miles before I sold it and it was mostly commuter highway miles. I had some of the issues that you had with it but if you are the original owner it should hit 200k easily if you take care of it.

that's great you are at the 175k mark! I have 2012 b8 s4 (purchased new in 2011) and am currently at 140ish and have had similar issues as you. I had one concern and perhaps you can help me; my "low oil, you may continue to drive..." warning comes on at every start even though there is adequate oil. Had the oil sensor replaced which did not fix. Someone told me a few months back and I can't remember but if you replace the hood latch sensor that should fix it. Is this correct? How did you know your hood latch sensor went bad? Also, the other warning message that comes on is Parking Brake Malfunction - which I can not figure out.

I did have the parking brake malfunction light come on a couple times but I thought maybe I tried to engage the parking brake while the car is still rolling. It came on but went away after a restart.

As for the oil level, if you haven't bought a dipstick I would recommend doing so for more accurate oil level. ECS should have a couple options.

Yes, the first time this annoying LOW OIL message would come on, I bought a dip stick from ECS. thank you for your input.

OP - good to hear. I'm currently at 135k miles on my 2012 S4 6MT. Purchased in 2014 with 35k miles, I've officially put a 100k on it myself. I have never had a CEL on this car (knock on wood) in all these years of ownership. I do my own maintenance that I can. I replaced all 4 shocks, and control arms up from with 034. Just recently did the oil filter housing gasket and valve cover gaskets. The only issues I've ever had with this car was a thermostat replacement while under warranty, a bad left rear wheel bearing, and the ac pressure switch. Other then that, regular oil changes, transmission fluid, rear diff fluid, spark plugs, filters, and the wear and tear regulars (clutch/flywheel, rotors, pads, etc. I couldn't been happier with how she's treated me, and its been stage 2 most of its life (giac tune, intake, awe downpipes/exhaust. Always good to hear stories like this.
