    2016 s6 cooling system

2016 audi s6, just did new water pump and i am having a very hard time getting the cooling system to work. I used a vacuum pressure filler to fill the systems and car started overheating on test drive. I have followed audis technical manual to the letter four times on bleedeing the system. I also today bought a no spill coolant bleeding bleeding funnel and ran the car for almost 45 mins with it bleeding air constantly once it hit operating temperature. Upon the bleed bubbles stopping i turned the car off waited, topped it off and took on a test drive car still wants to overheat. After the bleed my radiator was hot (had warm coolant in it) when i saw my temp start to rise ok test drive i drove back to the house and poped hood radiator was ice cold. (Assumeing there was none or not enough coolant in radiator) engine is not leaking coolant nor burning it, ive tried this and variations of this over a dozen times now and i am a complete loss for what is going on. The new water pump works but the coolant is not flowing sometimes/all the time when driving. Any advice will help. the pressure test shows no leaks. Trying to avoid time in the shop as its my daily driver and i want it back asap. TIA (4.0T engine 2016)

Not an expert, here. But it could be the thermostat?! Not sure if it’s all one piece on these [emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]]].[emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]s or if the water pump and ‘stat come separately.

Perhaps you did the bleed correct and just by coincidence the "switching valve" or whatever its called has failed at the same time? Should be easy enough to test.

Did you change the thermostat while you had it apart to do the pump?

Are you getting heat in the car? Even with my Vacuum filler pulling nearly 20inHg it still took 3x to get all the air out of the system.

Valve, Tstat or still has residual air.

    Good Luck!

It’s probably unconventional but here’s what I’ve done whenever I’ve drained or flushed coolant. Remove coolant reservoir cap, message every large coolant hose you can get your hands on by squeezing and releasing the line multiple times. Make sure coolant is at max fill mark. Start and run car for about 5-7 minutes with the cap still off reservoir. Let car completely cool and then top off coolant. Replace reservoir cap and take off for a little drive. Monitor and fill a little if needed.

Again, it’s not by the book but it’s always worked for me.
