Question New Here, Thinking of Buying a 3.2 Manual MK2 TT

Hey guys, I'm new here and looking for thoughts/advice.

I'm a junior in college and looking to buy my first own car. I'm a big car guy and am thinking I want something I can look back on 20 years or so and have good memories of. I've been thinking of a manual TT but not a big fan of the MK1s styling / electrical gremlins.

Any general thoughts on the 3.2 manual?

There's one I've been looking at on FB that has 144k miles, looks to be in pretty good condition based on photos and doesn't have any warning lights on, but doesn't have service records and 3 previous owners.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys,

    Thanks!

if you are not in a hurry to buy I would keep looking for of them, its good to have a couple options when buying a specific car. I would also expand the search radius a little further beyond how far you wanna go to get it since there are not a lot of them available. prices on the 3.2 seem really fare too;)

Thanks for the advice. I've been looking all over the US and even Canada at this point. Found more options in Canada, but not sure how much of a pain it would be to import it into the US and if that would be worth it.

I will need it to commute this summer, so I have a few months to keep looking. Hope I find the right one.

I never really list mine but it’s an 08 manual black on black 124k. It’s got tpms, cel for rear 02 pass sensor, and mag ride lights on. I have the mad ride delete I just haven’t installed. Selling to buy an a4/6 avant. Pm me if you’re interested

Sounds fun. Forget about the canadian cars unless you want one that's rusted to hell on the bottom and impossible to take any bolts off.

How much are you looking to spend? Pickings are going to be slim since it's older. You'll get a bunch of people who neglected them if you can find any at all. Then any decent one, the owner "know's what they have" or whatever excuse they use to price gouge you

My budget is about $8-13k, but theres is some wiggle room. I know that probably won't afford the cleanest examples, but college drains me.

Thanks for the note on Canadian cars. They are tempting but I definitely want to avoid rust.

I checked a few search engines and safe to say this car is very rare. I couldn't even find a single example of a 3.2 with a manual on sites like autotrader, etc.

Yeah, I've only managed to find around 4/5 on FB Marketplace across the entire US. From the research I've done it seems to be the only MKII that was sold in manual in the US (not including the RS).

If you get the VIN from the FB marketplace cars, you should be able to go to Audi website live Chat and ask the representative how many models of that particular build spec were manufactured. I suspect your answer will be in the 100-200 range...
