    Emissions question

Question for you RS4 owners in California. Recently moved back to Cali from Nevada (Clark County) and a little worried about getting the car through smog and registration here. The main worry is the visual as there may be a few things “missing” from the downpipes. I’m pretty confident that the test from the OBD2 will go smoothly but in case the tester wants to take a peak at anything else underneath I fear that I’ll be cooked.

Is everyone in Cali running high flow cats or just getting lucky when going through smog?

    Thanks!

I believe I had read Cali is also now doing ECU scanning and you can fail from being tuned. Idk how true that is, but they'll def get you on the visual from my understanding.

    Emissions question

I saw that too. As of I guess. But another user on here passed a few days ago with an ECU tune on their S[emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]]] so who knows. Maybe the inspector sees how low the car is and doesn’t bother looking underneath…. Wishful thinking. Currently tuned by JHM and I would figure that the cal id will be different from what the California emissions system expects.

There are some tunes that are Cali approved. Check with JHM if the one you have is approved or they have an approved version otherwise flash to stock. As for visual, depends on the tech.

Ok good info. I’ve only owned the car as tuned so any info on flashing back to stock? Probably have to get a stock file from somewhere? I assume I’d have to reinstall the combi valves as well for the SAI as those are gone.
