Permanent fault codes. CEL stays on - A6 3.2 -06

Hi there. These codes seems to appear after I tested my VVT solenoids. Unplugging them and checking for 12V. Also removed some of them and tested them outside of the car. Don't know if something I did triggered these codes. The car runs just fine but the problem is the CEL light. I can't delete the codes. That will be a problem for my next MOT. It says open circuit on all 4 solenoids it seems. Any ideas?

I think you have blown the power feed fuse for the solenoids. You should have battery voltage to the Red+green wire to each solenoid if you measure between that wire and ground. If you blow that fuse, all 4 solenoids will be detected as an open circuit. This fuse is shown in the wiring diagram as being in "Fuse Panel A" which is the fuse panel under the drivers side cowl in the black box.

Some wiring diagrams list the VVT feed fuse as "Fuse #13", but I believe there are only 10 fuses in that box and it is actually fuse #3, which is known as Fuse "SA13" in some diagrams. I have no idea what audi means by that designation lol.

Make sure you get ALL of the screws out of that box cover before removing it, and that it is properly reinstalled. This is a big source of water leaks on the drivers side floor for C6 - It is not uncommon for the screw furthest back on the inner side (towards center of the car) to be missed and then the cover gets cracked. Also very common for them to be screwed back on without being properly engaged all the way around the perimeter of the cover, or for the seal to pop out in one spot and not get noticed during reinstall.

Ah ok. Thanks. I'll take a look. I was recently down there when replacing my wiper fluid reservoir. If I remember correctly, I've to remove the wiper mechanism to get that cover off

If you have a super low profile ratchet+bit kit you should be able to get your fingers in there with only removing those two front screws on the wiper tray allowing the tray to bend up slightly.... But it might be a little painful on the hand xD
