Hello everyone

Whenever I work on my car I keep a couple pages of notes with torque specs/diagrams/etc, to reference so I don't have to pull my phone out, however, the pages are starting to get worn down and I see a bunch of people always asking for them on Facebook and the occasional reply on a thread and I end up pulling my phone out anyway. So I decided to make an "all-inclusive" post so that anyone who needs a quick reference can hopefully look this up and save them the hassle. I've also made a google drive to save it in so should anything ever happen to this site, the link to the drive/document should still work. That was one thing that would also drive me insane with the old MK4 forums is once they migrated/updated the site you lost all the pictures and everything associated with your post, so hopefully this idea can mitigate that. Any other notes/suggestions please let me know, to much knowledge never hurt anybody.

Common Torque Specs: (**apply small amount of anti-seize to threads)

Bottom oil cooler plate bolts (4): 9 N*m
Oil cooler bolts (6): 9 N*m
Oil Cooler bypass valve (3): 9 N*m
Intermediate Flange (2): 9 N*m
Coolant Sensor (1): 9 N*m
Intake Bolts (12): Following Sequence & see Figure 1.
1. Inside bolts (1-4) in X pattern (4): hand tight
2. Inside bolts (1-4) in X pattern: 9 N*m
3. All other bolts (recommend X pattern): 9 N*m
Intake bracket bolts (4): 9 N*m
Plastic plug bracket to intake bolts (2): 4 N*m
EGR Intake Tube bolt torque (2): 9 N*m
Air Duct Pipe bolts (4): 9 N*m
Throttle valve control assembly bolts (3): 9 N*m
Fuel rail crossover pipe nuts (2): 25 N*m
Fuel Pressure sensor: Follow Sequence (27mm hex)
1. Hand Tight
2. 60 N*m
3. Loosen 180°
4. 85 N*m
**Exhaust EGR Pipe bolts (2): 5 N*m + 90° or ~16 N*m
**Exhaust Bolts (3): 23 N*m
**Oxygen Sensor/NOx sensor(s): 55 N*m
**EGR Sensors: 45 N*m
Metering Valve bolts (2): 4 N*m
"False firewall" Plenum chamber nuts (2 – excluding “quick” nuts): 7 N*m
"False firewall" Plenum chamber quick nuts: 4 N*m
Strut Tower brace bolts/nuts (8 - excluding stamped metal nuts): 30 N*m
Strut tower brace stamped metal nuts: 2.5 N*m
**DPF to Mid pipe bolts (3): 23 N*m (suggested to replace)
**Mid pipe to cat bolts (3): 23 N*m (suggested to replace)
Exhaust mid pipe to engine block support bolt (1): 23 N*m
Exhaust mid-pipe to transmission cradle bolt (2): 23 N*m
**Glow plugs (6): 12 N*m
Front subframe bolt (2 – triple squares): 90 N*m + 135° w/ hydraulic power steering or 90 N*m + 90° with electromechanical power steering (suggested to replace)
Rear subframe brace bolts (4): 90 N*m + 135° (suggested to replace)
Trans cradle bolts to body (4): 70 N*m
Trans brace mount to cradle nuts (3): 20 N*m
Trans brace mount to trans bolts (3): 40 N*m
Front diff fill plug: 27 N*m
Front diff drain plug: 10 N*m
Center diff drain plug: 12 N*m
Center diff fill plug: 27 N*m
Rear diff drain plug: 15 N*m
Rear diff fill plug: 15 N*m
**Transmission pan bolt torque (12): Follow sequence & see Figure 2.
1. Hand tight in star/alternating pattern
2. 4 N*m in star/alternating pattern
3. 45° (1/8 Turn) in star/alternating pattern
Oil drain plug torque: 30 N*m
Oil filter housing torque: 25 N*m
Fuel injectors hold down bolt: 6 N*m + 90°
Engine Lifting eye bolts (2): 23 N*m
