Well, that's what you pay the big bucks for. I'd like to see other manufacturers exploring these advancements rather than focusing on EV's.

Exactly. And the way EV sales are going I wouldn't doubt other companies do. I do think that full EV is just not where it needs to be at the moment. The charging station availability is growing, but it's going to take time. And with govt forcing you to buy them by a certain date, the negative effect of all of this has hurt the industry. I was looking around, and you can get a fully equipped ETRON GT RS that's like 2 to 3 years old for what a new RS3 goes for. It's about a 40% depreciation. Crazy. Beautiful car.

EV's wouldn't save me enough money to justify all the other negatives about them. The math is highly variable, but it was somewhere in the $250-600 per year range for fuel savings factoring in two oil changes. Don't forget it costs $1,000 to register an EV for 4 years in NJ and then $250 per year afterward (going to $260 in 2025 and $10 per year there after). I think it costs less than $50 to register an ICE car of the same size. Also, let's not forget the charger installed in your garage, which costs about $1,000. Owning an EV is not instant savings like some would believe. Of course, there's the no emissions thing, but that's a little bit of smoke and mirrors as well. I'm much more interested in hybrid technology.

You nailed it. And not to get political here, there's the "feel good" factor that, when you dig into how the raw materials are mined, these EVs do more damage to the environment than ICE cars. So to me, the only advantage going full EV in say hi-po version is the insane acceleration some are getting. I agree on the hybrid as well. My wife picked up a plug-in Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and we love it. We've had four Jeeps before and her's is probably the nicest. The fact that you can plug it in overnight and wake up to the battery fully charged and go 20 miles on electric only (grocery trip?) is a cool feature. The new 2025-26 version gets extended range to I believe 40 miles. Even better. Btw, if you've read about the ugly recall on the jeep 4XE battery fiasco, we finally got the recall notice to get it fixed. Hopefully Jeep has turned the corner with all their issues over the last year or so.

I want to see someone buy a depreciated Etron GT,gut the EV stuff and swap in a better Audi motor or an LS/coyote. They’re beautiful vehicles with really good aerodynamics

Looks like the $7,500 Fed rebate still exists, with stipulations - AGI $150,000 single/ $300,000 married or you dont get it. NJ has lowered their sales tax exemption to 50% now. Next summer it goes away completely. There is a $2,000 NJ rebate, but it is limited to $75,000 AGI for single filers and $150,000 for married filers. I'm not sure if anyone in NJ making less than $75,000 a year is buying a $45,000 EV.

Plus we only got $4500 because it's a hybrid not a full EV. Go figure.
