New classic designation & ultrasport registry?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Saw somebody mentioning on one of the FB Audi groups that Audi has supposedly recently designated the original A4 B6 Ultrasport as a classic & supposedly now has a registry & VIN check, similar to bmw with the old M3 (E30, E36, E46, etc) registry where you could check to see if your car was authentic or just a clone.

As far as I know, there supposedly wasn't any special VIN indicator for the Ultrasports. Is this true? Or is it wishful thinking on their part?

    Hah, doubtful.
I think I know the thread you're referring to. The OP is a guy in Australia that's trying to petition for it to happen. He's very confused about the differences between a USA Ultrasport and the ROW models.
The post is becoming a bit of a joke to the ones in the know

I figured as much, but thought I'd ask anyway.
I'd never heard of any special VIN designation on our cars & I knew they were S-lines in Europe.

I would assume there's no special vin for us. I bought a b6 avant with the ultrasport look and was told that it was real. I checked with Audi via phone and email and they only provided colour specs and production numbers. No info on ''for this VIN'' this was an ultrasport.

How could they even do that? Go browse some of the UK based B6 FB groups and you'll see that 70% of the cars over there are spec'd like a USP as far as options and body work and there's no special designation / options package. That's just what people like and sells best so that's how they built them.
We get no options like that in the US. From what I can tell the 'Ultrasport' seems to be something *almost* specific to the US. There are like 6 different seat designs for the B6 over there; in the US you got regular damn seats. Or spend $4500 for a set of Recaros. It would be funny to hear a conversation when someone tried to request anything non-standard on a B6 at the dealer. The answer would be : Not Available. Buy a USP.

Over in most of Europe it was a buffet. Get literally anything you want if you ask the right guy. But I many people would be even slightly interested in what we call the Ultrasport.
