B8.5 CTUB or Similar Engine Swap to B8..yes?..any complications?

Can anyone confirm they have installed the B8.5 engine to a B8?

I've read a bunch of 3rd person opinions arguing no changes needed, another mentioning the crank sensors need swapping, another mentioning intake cam per bank and phasers need to be replaced...etc.

If you have done this swap, please set the record straight..what is required?

What does the power steering pump mount to on a 3.0T? B8.5 doesn't have one, B8.0 has one.

it mounts to ps pump bracket, that bracket bolts up to both facelift and prefacelift engines. I have swapped cgxc engine into my b8 s4, but it's not a successful swap yet as smac770 might remember. I swapped the crankshaft cam sensor since B8 and B8.5 have different p/ns. I was initially getting P052A and P052C intake cam codes, but P052A went away and P052C persisted. Entirely possible if not very likely this is not due to B8.5 vs B8 cam adjuster differences but due to a bad tensioner or stretched chain on that bank.
I do recall that Svarog performance said they had timing codes after using b8.5 heads with b8 block, but I think he said these would show up after some hard pulls. He claimed these were resolved after installing b8 intake cams and camshaft phasers.

My biggest question with the Oleg build, was it just an issue of a faulty phaser or cam solenoid. He did swap the B8 intake cam and phasers, but it also shows he tried swapping the B8 solenoids at end of his video too. The B8 solenoids cannot run in a B8.5 head, I’ve tried when mine when bad in my B8, it gives cam correlation codes.

I now know of a local shop that recently installed a B8 S4 engine into a B8.5 Q5, only issue was the head temp sensor being it’s not present, custom tuning resolved the issue head temp sensor issue.

most people want to do the other way around and put a b8.5/c7 engine into b8 car. facelift engines are just more available than pre-facelift. The question is if it's possible to install CGX/CTU engines into 2010-2012 S4s reusing B8 ECUs and without any changes to the ECU and no error codes, and what mechanical changes will be needed. Otherwise this won't work in CA.
