Hey guys,
I purchased my 2012 s4 6 yrs ago now with 87k on the clock. It now has 198. It's been a dream. I've read all your posts about our platforms coolant leak issues on cars with as little as 30k and been like damn that sucks won't happen to me lol. Well I bought another summer car this yr and had the thought of my beloved 4 wheel drive car be my sports winter beater. Now I've driven it sporadically over the past 4 months but not as my daily. After I tucked my new toy away today for the winter I took my old lady out of hibernation and popped the hood to check fluids. Low and behold the coolant had dropped to about halfway down the reservoir. Now it's been losing some coolant the past couple yrs but nothing drastic do this is a anomaly. I've always topped it off and it would stay in the normal range. So I took for a ride around the block opened the oil cap while running and experienced abnormal suction but what was the true tell of an issue was it had started to get the milky residue on the oil cap.
Alil back ground. Under my ownership ive never replaced the pcv, water pump, or supercharger bricks. I've been lucky to say the least. The only things I've had to do have been a couple wheel bearings and I replaced the front suspension (never doing that again). So it's time to dig in. To be honest how difficult of a job is this to take l tackle. I've read post going both ways.
If you guys have any posts to link I would greatly appreciate it.
