    Fault Codes RS3 8Y

Hi All, very first post ever. I have a '23 RS3 w/ around 13k miles. Dont plan on putting anymore miles on till I do some engine upgrades. I took it out recently and an engine light had appeared.

Follow DTC's appeared: (scanned w/ topdon phoenix lite 2)
01 Engine Electronics: P003300 Turbocharger Bypass Valve Control Circuit, High
15 Airbag: B101C07 Driver Seat Belt Switch - Mechanical Malfunction
17 Instrument Cluster: B201100 Incorrect Basic Setting
19 Data Bus OBD Interface: B1902F1 NV-Energy Management - Alarm Triggered
19 Data Bus OBD Interface: U105000 Battery Monitoring Control Module - No Communication
19 Data Bus OBD Interface: U123100 Ethernet Databus Branch 6 - No Communication
5F Information Electronics 1: U15CA00 Secure Control Modules, Internal Communication - Not Available
75 Emergency Call Module And Communication Unit: B1915F1 Online Services - Function Temporarily Restricted Due to Battery Budget

With all of these codes popping up there are many concerns. My main concern is the Turbocharger Bypass Valve Control Circuit being high. Looked it up and haven't found much, except something could be wrong with the seal on the diverter valve. Or something could be wrong with the fuse or electrical lines. (which I highly doubt especially w/ 13k miles) My assumption is that it has to do with the seal on the diverter valve. So I write to this forum to see if anyone else has experienced any of these codes and if there are some that I should be worrying about more than the others. ETC. Car runs fine, but engine light is on due to the first code.

If anyone could help or give advice that would be greatly appreciated!

Yep, it is still under warranty but I'm not too sure if the intake or turbo inlet void the warranty. And that's what I'm afraid of. Yeah I live in the NE, (got to 27F last night). Yeah, the battery was my second guess, but the only time I ever touched the battery was to jump my 5 year old battery for my 4runner. And I don't think something as simple as that would mess with the battery. But would cold weather be the cause for the voltage being high on the bypass valve control?

The battery is filled with water...and cold temps effect them greatly...as does heat.

    Reset all the codes.

Generally seeing that many codes all at once...points towards the battery....

Especially this code: 19 Data Bus OBD Interface: U105000 Battery Monitoring Control Module - No Communication

    Test your battery.

    Consider a replacement.

Requires OBD setting of Battery Tender program.
Great observation. Was thinking the same thing.

BTW I think the turbo inlet and intake will be a problem at the dealer. Not sure of the type of dealer you have but I'd consider swapping out the stock parts before going to be safe

Thank you guys so much. I will deff try swapping batteries and see. If I did this on my own, (just for clarification), replace battery, go into OBD special function and reprogram the battery?

Don't do the battery, the problem is mostlikely the software update. I have been through this 2-3 times on two different Audi RS3 8Y. Do a seach on my username, I posted this issues several times with the fix and everything. I mean, if your battery is dead then there is nothing you can do but have the dealer Tshoot the issue. There are so many test on just the battery alone.

This should be on the RS3 subtopic.

Yeah, unfortunately I already changed the battery. Drove the car for a little bit and it erased all the codes. Next day, drove it to the audi dealership, asked them to make sure that the battery adaption was good to go. They readapted the battery. But as soon as I drove it off the lot, engine lights came on and a series of three codes showed up.

P003300 - Turbocharger Bypass Valve Control Circuit, High
U14FF00 - Secure Onboard Communication - Signature Creation Failed
    B201100 - Incorrect Basic Setting

Taking it back on Monday morning to see what's wrong. And to have them run a diagnostic again. Just super frustrated at this point. Not too sure if its a connection issue or a diverter valve issue.

Any help with these would be amazing!

Put your stock stuff back on and let them figure it out. Why mess with it yourself?

Your turbo inlet and intake can't void your Audi warranty period. No matter what people hearsay or stories they claim or argue that is a gamble or that dealerships had money or lawyers or what the dealership says out of ignorance.

Facts are Facts and are independent of people's opinions.

    Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act (P.L. 93-637) United States federal law (15 U.S.C. § 2301 et seq.). Enacted in 1975.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act,*protects you the consumers from unfair warranty practices regarding automobiles, by preventing manufacturers from voiding warranties due to aftermarket parts or services unless they can prove the aftermarket item caused the defect.

No Warranty Voiding: Manufacturers cannot automatically void a vehicle's warranty due to the use of aftermarket parts or services.

Burden of Proof: The manufacturer must prove that the aftermarket part or service caused or contributed to the defect to deny a warranty claim.

I had my S3 8V on stage 2 with plenty of mods service for the infamous leaking water pump thermostat replacement under warranty. And you bet they try to pull the is the tune card issue. Once I recite the law like Shakespeare Poetry. The service manager had no choice but to swallow his tongue and approve the service.

By the way let's hypothetically say they replicate the issue and prove the part installed on the engine for example causes the issue. They can then only revoke your power train warranty for the engine. But not your electronics warranty.

It is important we are aware and educated of our rights so that we exercise them.

Update: So I ended taking the car into the dealership for the code, they found that the Dummy Plug from Iroz seemed to have burnt out. There's a chip within it. So I just replaced it and cleared the DTCs. Seems to be running fine as of now.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond—I truly appreciate this community. The reason I prefer not to take my car to the dealership as often is that I want to gain a deeper understanding of my car. Installing mods myself and diagnosing the codes allows me to learn firsthand, rather than relying solely on a dealer. So yes, that’s why I 'mess with it'—it’s called learning.
