My current situation with ECS. I ordered a water pump that was supposed to come with a metal gasket 2 months ago. Part arrived and had a paper gasket that was ripped in half. No big deal things happen. I however contacted them twice before placing the order to verify. I called customer service and yet again they verified it was supposed to come with a metal gasket and said they would provide one as soon as they got the part number. That was the last time I heard from them on the gasket. I also ordered a fan blade , same deal confirmed fitment part showed up in the right label package but it is for the 1.8 engine. called in and got label for return and then double confirmed fitment so I could get the correct one out. second fan sent same deal 1.8 fan. I called last Friday to speak with a Manager to get this taken care of. No mangers were available and was told I would receive a call back shortly. NO one has called or emailed from ECS. As a Parts Manger myself this is hard to swallow, customer service and customer experience are key. just my 2 cents

Due to this very dynamic with ECS, I don’t play with them anymore. It really is a game, it feels like. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. EuropaParts is where I got my fan blade and they also have Hepu water pumps and the ability to buy a kit with only the components you want.

I can confirm ECS is slow to respond. I emailed them right after placing an order (and 3 days before it shipped) and they did not respond until the day after it shipped. FCP is much more responsive.

I find myself using ECS for research due to the usually good pictures they have.

The TTV flywheel and RS4 combo is such a great setup! Have run in it on multiple cars. Have another one of these combos ready to go for my build when it happens.

    Very nice!

What is the break-in period recommended for this setup?

The recommended break in for the Mellett cores is 500 miles

Got about 250 miles on the car so far car is running well. Had a leaky driver side out CV boot, installed a new half shaft yesterday. On Sunday the heat started blowing out luke warm air, so it looks like a heater core back flush is in store. Did some reading sounds like a common issue. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Yeah, a lot of us. It’s the cast iron blocks fault. If you want to look at my “My Third AR…” thread, I document how I did it this last summer. I got a garden hose adapter off Amazon and some big clear tubing so I could see what was happening. Helped, but ultimately I’ll need to replace my heater core. I grabbed 2 Nissens from FCP when they went on clearance. Crazy part is, the hardware needed, which is 2 metal clamps with a little screw that tightens them almost like a v-band, is just as expensive as the heater cores.

Ugh, I hated replacing the heater core. Be careful on the kit you get--I got a Nissens kit and the o-rings were wrong and prevented me from installing it until I got the correct OE o-rings.

When I got my car, I did the CLR flush, which definitely helped a lot for a couple years. Of course, someone had sludged it up by putting green coolant in with the pink and so it was all kinds of nasty.

The clamps also make a difference. I’d get genuine clamps and o-rings if you can. It’s a bit of a pain to change and you’ll need to put down some sort of trash bag to catch the fluid that leaks out of the core when you undo the clamps and pipes. But at least you don’t have to remove the whole dash like you do in the B5’s.

I was reusing my original clamps. The clamps were fine--it was def the o-rings being too thick, since after I eventually towed it to the shop to do b/c I had to go on travel, they got original o-rings and had no issue.

Heater core back flush was a success, bunch of small rust particles came out not really anything to get pictures of. I used air and water to do it . Nice warm heat flowing now on this beautiful 7 degree day.

Got 200 more miles to go and then I can start boost logging hopefully temps come up out of the teens. Loving this platform and looking forward to what’s next!!!

On your JHM trans rebuild did you send them a random core or your core, or have a local shop rebuild it? I have a stage 3 A6 that needs one so I am weighing options.

It was rebuilt using JHM parts by the guy I purchased my 6speed swap from

The allroad is performing well about 1,000 miles on it so far. The only issue at the moment is the aftermarket so called upgrade Throttle body boot. Not impressed keeps blowing one pipe off. Maybe I have a lead foot. Stock boot in route now

It took me an afternoon to fit mine and get it oriented right so it would seal the map sensor o-ring correctly and hold both bi-pipes properly, I had one blow off during a pull and I about turned my shorts brown.😁 I am also running t-bolt clamps on those 3 connections.

Make sure you remove all the parts. Clean all the surfaces with brake clean. Even the outside where the clamp goes. And it will solve your problems.

The map sensor fitting correctly is a pain tho.

The metal throttle body from the late allroad is by far the bed solution to this!

Metal throttle body from 2005 allroad is the second best solution.
    APR bi-pipe is the best:
