MK 1 spoiler recall

Does anyone know if it is possible to determine if a recall has been performed? From what I have learned, the 1999 and 2000 TTs did not come with rear spoilers but these were added after some highspeed stability issues were noted. I have a 2000 MK1 180 quattro 5-speed with no rear spoiler and am curious if one was ever installed and if recall records for a specific VIN are archived somewhere? I have the Carfax record and nothing shows up there. Before I remove the interior hatch cover to see if there are any holes (assuming these were through-bolted!?), thought I'd ask if anyone knows of a way to check a particular car for this part of its history.

Check with any Audi dealer, they would know via their service/recall database.

I do know some owners removed the spoiler because when Audi added it, it changed the look of the concept and early production models when it was released.
