    D5 A8 4.0 Tune Options

Ahoy, any news on D5 A8 4.0 tunes available? I have browsed APR, IE and Unitronic. Seems like the ea825 found in the a8 is the only 4.0 variant without an available tune on the market.

The EA825 should use the Deadbeef Flash, but doesn't have OTS tunes done by John Banks like the older DS1 set up did. You'll have to find a tuner who uses Deadbeef, and get a custom tune.

I used Mirza to tune my 2021 A8L 60 ECU/TCU. Kyle does them as well. 0-60 is now 3.6s with no other modifications. Good enough for me for a 5000lb boat! I'm done chasing times and got that out of my system with the 2013 A8 D4 I sold a few months ago.

APR claims they still haven't cracked the A8 ECU or TCU. But there are some guys that have but they'll check your VIN and tell you if there are any limitations for your car. Deadbeef is super fast compared to DS1 - a lot cruder UI as well but it does the job and very quickly.

Funny. Ignorant and classless. But funny.

I get it, but you can only resist the urge so long, and the EA825 is a beast. Although you could have something more badass I don't know about to scratch that itch.

It's tempting but I can't work on these things so for now, I'm sitting pat. I poured thousands into the 2013 I owned and enjoyed 7 of 8 years I had it. But year 8 there seemed to be repairs needed every other week.

Also, I stand corrected on the 0-60s. The 3.6s pull was invalid per Dragy - 3.81s was a valid pull at an incline of 0.54% Launch didn't feel liked it hooked at start but its good enough for now since I won't be launching this car much.

That's still good brother. I get it, sometimes it's better to enjoy than have something you have to fix every few weeks.

There are likely several tuners out there you could run with. My '23 S8 has apparently been cracked by everyone except APR. I've had mine tuned since June and that is with Unitronic, but DT Performance now has ECU AND TCU now available, and DME and 034 have ECU tunes now, too (I know this as I rode everyone hard since Nov '23 and they have been randomly coming back to me as their products are released for my previously locked car)...

Pretty big uncorrected gains 0-60mph with the Unitronic (3.4x to 3.0x). I haven't run the 1/4 mile other than one pass heat-soaked in Orlando at a 12.1 and 115mph (4.08 0-60) which was pre-tune, and the Unitronic folks told me their tune hits higher up than down low (my butt tells me that, too). I imagine the car is really a 11.5 1/4 mile 119ish mph car stock considering the consistent 3.4/5 0-60mph, and now is likely a very low 11.xx/10.9x 1/4 mile tuned. I'll no more next weekend as I'm doing the fastornothing 1/2 mile event in Sebring next week. Should have lots of runs and data...
