PCV Breather Hose and Catch Can Kit for EA839 2.9T/3.0T is Now Available from 034!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!

The wait is over. You can now upgrade the failure-prone and inadequate PCV Hose system on your Audi B9/B9.5 EA839 V6 Engine with the 034Motorsport PCV Breather Hose upgrade, and for S4, S5, RS4, and RS5 owners, take the upgrade a step further with the 034Motorsport Catch Can Kit.

034Motorsport has spent years reverse engineering, designing, and testing a comprehensive line of PCV system upgrades for the EA839 V6 Engines found in B9/B9.5 Audi’s to fix a critical design flaw in the factory PCV hose system that could lead to catastrophic failure. The 034Motorsport PCV Breather Hose cleanly and perfectly remedies these design flaws while offering superior crankcase ventilation for all stages. Whether you’re stock or tuned, the 034Motorsport PCV Breather Hose is a critical safety and reliability upgrade. See the product page for details on this design flaw and how the 034Motorsport PCV Breather Hose is the perfect solution.

For those looking to not only remedy the design flaw in the factory PCV system and take PCV System performance a step further, the 034Motorsport Catch Can Kit for B9/B9.5 Audi S4, S5, RS4, and RS5 is the perfect choice. Utilizing the same refined PCV breather hose design while maintaining both sources of vacuum, the 034Motorsport Catch Can Kit offers great crankcase ventilation while also trapping any oil particulates that would normally escape into the turbo inlet and be burned off. This oil is then drained directly back into the Oil Pan, reducing oil consumption and carbon build-up. See the product page for details on how this works.

These products are released under a Pre-Order at a 10% discount as we are just finishing up production. Orders placed during the Pre-Order period will be shipped in Early December 2024.

come on man, every other place like Facebook etc.. has discussions on this. what does audizine think? is this a must get?
I'm on extended warranty so part of me just wants to keep eating through stock PCV
does it actually help with safety?
it also state ref risk in Cali

If you're tuned you should probably run the catch can. If not the breather hose is probably the way to go. The check valve in the OEM PCV is known to fail, but no one seems to know how much boost it takes. Once it fails it looks like oil coming from the cap, or worse, out the rear main seal. For peace of mind its not a bad buy. I'm stage 2 and going to go the catch can route.

Whether you're stock or tuned, this would be an ideal upgrade since the OEM PCV breather hose is commonly prone to failure - common enough for Audi to release a TSB for it.

Did Audi ever improve the PCV breather hose over the B9/9.5 life cycle, or is this part an upgrade even up to the 2024 model year?

The OEM PCV design is the same on B9 & B9.5 models, and our PCV Breather Hose Kit and Catch Can Kit are for all B9/B9.5 models, even up to the 2024 model year.

I placed a pre-order for the catch can kit for B9 S5. Where can I get my hands on the installation instructions? I would like to get an idea of the difficulty of installation, especially the connection to drain back into the oil pan.

At this time, it looks like none of our PCV Breather Hose or Catch Can Kits have shipped yet, but we are still working on that install guide.

Sorry the images did not upload in order. I literally just got this email.

    1. 034 has stated on their live chat that these would not be shipped until early December.

    2. I receive an email saying it shipped a few days ago advising it will be here on Monday.

    3. People representing them on here says some have shipped but waiting on install instructions.

    4. Receive email saying they are built wrong and we're shipped out wrong and now I have to be inconvenienced with shipping the merchandise back like it's no big deal. This is nearly 600.00 bucks of my money. Oh, and I am leaving for Europe shortly!!!

I do not understand these new automotive business policies of pre-order, no phone line to call if having an issue, etc. Guess it's a indicator I am getting too old for this stupid shit. Lmfao.

Thank you for purchasing the new B9 RS5 Catch Can Kit, and we apologize for any inconvenience. Unfortunately, due to an internal error, some kits were assembled with an incorrect fitting and shipped out before we caught the issue. Mistakes happen, but we’re committed to taking care of all customers affected.

We’re working with the shipping carrier to recall all packages, but if it’s delivered, we ask that you please don’t open or attempt installation, as the fitment will be incorrect. Within 24 hours, you’ll receive a return label and RMA instructions from our Customer Service Team. Once we have the kit back, we’ll send you a corrected, QC-verified replacement by early December or sooner.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding as we resolve this. If you have questions, please contact us at [email protected]—our team is here to help.

We've sent a follow up to that initial email. We've begun shipping out the correct hose and fitting today and will not require anyone to ship back their full kits. Once the correct hose and fitting arrives, you can install the kit without issue and use the included return label and packaging to send us back the incorrect hose and fitting (all outlined both in the email we just sent and in the packaging you will receive with the correct hose).

All future kits are being built with the correct fitting, so this is only a temporary problem for those that have ordered and had their kits shipped up to this point.

Again, we're sorry for the confusion and inconvenience here. Thankfully it is a simple solution and should not impact anyone's ability to use this kit without issue. We hate it when things like this happen, as we don't take issues lightly here. We're here to support our products and customers regardless, and while we do everything we can to prevent errors, we are human, and unfortunately, things like this can happen. What's important is we will always rectify the situation in the fastest and most efficient way possible, as we have done here. If anyone has concerns, don't hesitate to reach out.

Actually, this isn't true either, as you guys have supplied the incorrect fitting drain hose. As far as I know there is no ETA on when this drain hose issue will be remedied, and 034 is saying to go ahead with the installation without the drain hose but to empty the catch can when 3/4 full. It seems to be one issue after the other with this kit, which is pretty disappointing. I know at least for me, that I don't want to start installing this unless I am 10000% certain that I have ALL of the correct parts and pieces AND instructions on how to do so

I am not a 034 Motorsport loyalist even though I have spent thousands of dollars on products by them at this point, and no matter what statements are made by others, I will continue to document my experience (good, neutral or bad) in order for others to review in order to formulate their own opinions.

    Update:

I received the corrected hose/connector via USPS (good) and the incorrect Catch Can/PCV kit via Fedex. Both have been left unopened at this time as I have not decided to keep it.

As of 11/19/2024 this is the information I have received from 034 regarding the oil drain kit error today via email from their customer service lead.

"I don't have a confirmed ship date for the oil drain kit yet. We'll be sending out another email with an update on the drain kit once we've confirmed when we'll be able to ship them out.

In the meantime, I've issued the $50 store credit to your account. That is the credit mentioned in the email communications regarding this issue. Your credit is available to use on any future order and can be found as one of the payment methods available at checkout.

Keep an eye out for another email from our team with an update on the drain kit."

    Interesting information ....

More time to shop I guess with my $50.00 store credit. LMFAO.

This is for information only and is not to defame 034 Motorsport but only to share my review of this particular situation as a money paying customer.

As someone who doesn't have anything 034, It sounds like they made a mistake and are fixing it as best they can. They caught it before you received it and tried to install. Issued a return label and will have you the correct parts by the original promised date? Sounds like great customer service to me. Its insane to me that grown men get so upset about the smallest inconveniences.

I received mine with the wrong part too and I received the correct one about a day later. I felt that they were up front and proactive about the issue. I’m still waiting on the drain hose, but it doesn’t bother me as long as I get it in a timely manner since I haven’t installed it yet anyway.

Could the issue have been prevented in the first place? Sure, but I have no issue with how it is being handled. They kept me informed about the issue and so far they seem committed to making things right.

I also take into consideration that I received it almost a month earlier than I was expecting.

I also think they handled it well. Got the product(with wrong hose) but quality looks great. Got the right hose like 2 days later, and I shipped the wrong one back. Oil drain issue but they also gave store credit to compensate for the inconvenience. Yes, there were problems but i think they handled it well and fairly. Everything also looks to be top quality.

Some of you may have experienced a factory PCV Failure already, others may not know about this critical failure point that can affect stock or tuned EA839 engines.

We've put together this walkthrough video detailing the intricacies of the factory system and why it fails so often, and highlight the two new product options we have released that not only remove the failure point, but increase the overall performance and effectiveness of the PCV system for all stages.

Check out this video here, and be sure to watch the full video to see how the 034Motorsport PCV Breather Hose and 034Motorsport Catch Can Kit solutions differ from other products on the market, making them the only two solutions that are the be-all-end-all options to solve this critical safety issue and facilitate reliable PCV Performance for years to come.

Available at 10% off MSRP thru 12/9, PCV Breather Hoses should begin shipping Tomorrow for all Pre-Orders, with Catch Can kits following suit next week.

Check out the PCV Breather Hose Here:

These just shipped out the end of last week. Mine is due in on Tuesday, so i don't think you'll find much help unless someone paid for overnight or express shipping.

I installed mine over the weekend. Very nice fit and finish. One clamp didn't fit like the rest but I eventually got it to lock into the "OUT" on the can. The instructions they provide definitely have some errors and missing steps, and I was missing the M8 lug that is supposed to be used, so I've had to contact 034 about that. Was able to use the OEM lug in the meantime. Overall it looks nice but QC seems a bit lacking compared to other 034 products. All in all I give it a 10/10 on look, 7/10 on instructions, 5/10 on QC due to missing parts and still no fix for the drain line... but lets see how it performs

Thanks FLOS5IN…..mine is schedule to arrive Saturday. I’ll be installing sometime later this month along with changing out the plugs. I’ll check to make sure I have all the correct hardware when it arrives. Something I usually don’t do.

Looks great! Nice work. I'll be adding this to my car as well in the near future. How long did it take to install the whole thing?

Took me about 2 hours tops including set up and break down of all my tools etc. It was fun and easy. Hardest part was removing the factory PCV from the turbo inlet pipe. I ended up breaking the clamp to get it off.

A right-angle pick tool is needed to release the clamp off the inlet pipe PCV fitting. Somewhat hard to describe, but you need to insert the pick under the clamp ring and trace the circle while pulling the clamp off the fitting.

Would’ve been helpful of 034 to include that in their directions. The directions just stated “pull hard, it takes some force” lol

If you twist it counter clockwise as far as possible first, it should come off much easier. Just pulling in the position it is, felt like I'm sure to break it but twisting did the tick for me.

I have not installed mine yet as I am waiting on the S34 intake I ordered (and hopefully the Drain Line fix). After reading your post I looked and noticed I am also missing the M8 bolt and washer, so thank you for sharing this. I sent an email to 034 about the missing parts, so hopefully they will be able to send them out sooner rather than later.

I had that thing twisted every which way, pulling with my entire body weight and it wasn't budging. I was able to get it with pliers and a pry tool... but it sounds like a simple pick tool would have made my life much easier. If only 034 would have included that little tip in their instructions with a few other errors/missing bits that I found. Namely pictures 11 and 12 are reversed with the instructions and they make no mention of placing the clamps before the hose installation. Live and learn!

From what I've gathered the drain line fix will be a simple adjustment so you're probably okay to do the install if you wanted to. They shipped my M8 bolt and washer the day after I contacted them, so you should be all set.

I got the instructions for removing the PCV fitting off the intake tube from APR, when I installed their CF Intake.

    Step 10:

Remove the PCV connection from the front of the metal turbo intake pipe. While pressing in on the connection towards the engine, run a pick around the inside of the attachment to loosen the fitting, then pull the connection off the metal inlet pipe. Be careful not to damage the inside of the connection with the pick.

For reference, see page 13 of their instruction manual:
