1.8t BFB stalls at idle, dying throttle body?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Looking for advice as this is something that never happened to Me
Car stalls randomly stalls at idle, it stalled twice, but was able to restart, on the first one it idles rough, but drives fine, second was all good both idle and driving

    pulled codes and got these

    17976 - Throttle Actuator (J338)
    P1568 - 001 - Mechanical Failure - Intermittent
    17972 - Throttle Actuator (J338)
    P1564 - 002 - Under-Voltage during Basic Setting - Intermittent

Does this mean My throttle body is dying?, connectors are in good condition and TB has been adapted,
just looking for advice if I should go ahead and just get a new one because mine is from factory and maybe its time to replace it...

Hey man ! Check the crankshaft position sensor. It's easy to replace and very inexpensive. I've experienced this about 6 months ago and this happened to be my problem. Easy fix though...
    Good luck !

Hey man thanks for the input, Crankshaft sensor is like 2 years old (Delphi brand) because it failed on Me and the car refusing to start (crank no start)...
Somehow I doubt that its this sensor

If you have access to a replacement TB you could try then I’d try swapping it out.

1.8t BFB stalls at idle, dying throttle body?

Maybe it’s stuck due to carbon/oil buildup. Have you checked inside?

I did a TB adaptation not long ago (whenever I remove the battery terminals), surely it should have kept the values right?

Will have a go, are there parameters on Group 60 that will indicate that the TB is done for?

I wish I could help you more but I only know basic VCDS stuff, I looked at mine a couple of weeks ago and at Idle it was at 11%. Refer to Ross Tech forum and Wiki might help you some more.

So cleaned the inside of the TB (was fairly clean as I do this every other 3 months) and did an adaptation, the code hasnt appeared but I noticed that when I turned the car off theres a audible high frequency squeal coming from the TB is that normal?

Like a clean, high-frequency pulse-width-modulated sound? Like a "big servo" sound? I hear that particular sound on my car on shutdown. It seems normal to me. Happy digital noises.

I used to think it was normal, it happens before, but this time the sound stayed for a very long time like a solid minute or so when before it was like around 10secs

I like the little symphony of clicks and PWM sounds that the car makes when I turn it on and off.

So just now while the car didnt stall I notice that on idle RPMs would sharply drop to the point it almost stalls the car, but jumps back to normal, did not show any codes, but anyway the new throttle body is bound to arrive tomorrow.

Installed the new TB, I just realized that the last time I cleaned the throttle body, it was only from the entrance side, but the other side doesnt seem to be too dirty to cause issues, but then again I dont know how much is too much, the way I measure it is if light cannot pass through the gaps with the TB plate closed.
Anyway I'm gonna leave it as a old and faulty TB as it was from the factory, thanks for the help guys!

Well just got back home today and unfortunately no it didnt fix it, I randomly stalled twice one at low speed and one at idle and now showing a new TB code :
    17953 - Throttle Valve Controller
    P1545 - 002 - Malfunction - Intermittent

So I was leaning on TB wiring, I split the heat shrink as far as where the multiple harness go into the bigger heat shrink and TB wiring looks pristine, still flexible and not brittle, no chaffs or exposed wires...
I'm gonna rewire a new connector see how that goes
Hoping it's not a failed ECU...

Ok so after researching a bit more I found this article:

    https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...t-Start-At-All

So I went to check the relays under the ECU I dont have a relay #30 only #373 and #614 I believe 614 is the ECU relay it's a 12v 70A relay.. the ECU box is bone dry and while the pins on the relays arent corroded, they were dirty So I sanded the pins and had an idea...
3 years ago I replaced My fuel pump relay, it uses the same relay as the one in the ECU box it's pretty new. So I thought of swapping them and see if it gives Me codes for fuel pump...
