    Post Drive Line Stabilization

I have a B5 Avant that has a 4.2 V8 swapped into it. I've noticed the transmission mounts are on their way out. I have new ones on order, but I'm curious if while I'm down there if I should install a AWE drivetrain stabilizer bar? My thought process is that it will help take a load off the mounts that are being strained by the extra torque from the V8. Plus make the shifts a little more crisp. However, I'm curious if that will just end up straining the trans case and cause me more issues than just wearing out trans mounts? I should mention that I still have the factory 01A 5 speed that came with the car. I know, I know, I should swap in a 01E. I intend to when my wallet allows. For now I'm curious if it's worth trying to stabilize the driveline, or if it will cause more issues. Does anyone have expierence with the AWE bar? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

I don't have one, but I've seen a few installed. I think the DTS is a good idea with the V8. All of your trans mounts also bolt directly to the transmission case, so I don't think straining the case would be a concern. The more attachment points, the more the load is spread out. I think the only real downside of the DTS is ground clearance, especially if the car is lowered.

You could also use an OEM style General Motors transmission mount instead of the usual poly, if you are worried about stiffening things too much.
EDIT: looks like AWE sells the kit either way, poly or rubber.
