Everything on this car I’ve done myself step by step. It’s been a learning process. But it’s missing something. It pulls great. It feels great but it needs more. Just kind of looking for guidance on what else can be done.
I’m really considering reaching out to Tyler at ward perfomance to tune it because he can also tcu tune it, something that UM can’t do.
I’m very very happy with Fred and his customer support. He’s one of the only ones that can tune the cpma motors. But the cars just getting to about 120k and she’s taken care of. I’m hoping for a little insight. Any help would be appreciated. My next step would be going at the fuel with a nostrum hpfp and their injectors. I don’t wanna start tearing into the block if u haven’t exhausted everything. But also it is my daily. The one thing I have noticed is when I’m really getting on it, it almost sounds like I’m burning off the line if you get what I mean, but I know I’m not. She’s not that fast…yet. It’s very hard to explain. Anyone else experience this? Any feedback would be great especially with the a4 guys, I know there’s much more out there.

Nice build! Congrats on doing it all yourself! I’m the same - I’ve done it all except for the tuning (and I don’t need any more hobbies!). It’s been a very long (and expensive) process but we’ll worth it to say and know I did it all in my driveway!

It looks like you are at the point where to truly take advantage of that K04x - you need fueling. …and then to be able to “turn it up” - you will need to build that block and head. I think you already know this is the answer!

Nice build! TCU tune should help, you could have WPT just do the tcu if you're happy with the UM ecu

Hey man I appreciate it! I truly do, for some reason I guess I missed your reply. Don’t really know how, but anyway yes it 100% feels great that I’ve done everything myself. It’s taken hours lol especially the carbon cleaning. But I learned. When I went to put the Pcv hose/ tube back I guess I sorta cracked the clip, so it gives me an excuse to replace the injectors and hpfp. I just don’t know what I’m going to do yet as far as injectors. I really don’t wanna start ripping the block apart. What’s your build like?

Wpt won’t just tcu tune it, I am happy with UM but I really need to tcu. I feel like I’m leaving a lot on the table

Pretty much full bolt on. Recently built the engine (bottom and head). And more recently upgraded my turbo from a CTS TR-1070 to a Borg Warner EFR 6758. Still on stock HPFP and injectors (b8.5 flex fuel). Fueling is what is holding me back at this point so I have nostrum HPFP and nostrum injectors on the way.

That’s what I’m on now the 1070x , I haven’t done any motor work. Waiting for my nostrom stuff as well, what type of power you making when you did the cts turbo? What dv you running? But there’s not many parts for our cars lol. I just did a carbon clean recently. Helped a lot. Just thinking about what to do next.

The 1070x should be a step ahead of the TR-1070 that I was running. Someone had one and posted a thread on it. In any event, I never dyno’d but my best 1/4 mile was 12.74 secs. Car ran great and pulled strong.

I run a turbosmart kompact dv. It’s a great unit - I switched to it when I started having issues with the GFb dv+. If I didn’t go with the turbosmart, I would have switched back to latest revision stock OEM DV.

Forgot to mention I also have methanol injection. I inject at the intake runners (port) and just after intercooler so that really helps to slow down the carbon build up. Cleaned everything really well too when k rebuilt the engine.

So I went with the nostrum stuff and bought the vadpro28 so I can log everything and decided to add a cts catch can. Just waiting for it to come in. I was just speaking to my tuner and I’d be basically at the limit for the zf8, it sucks cause there’s not a lot of people that can tune the zf8 for my platform.

That’s what I’m really considering doing is going back to stock, I think I might play with the spring pressure before I do though. Carbon cleaning most definitely helped. I honestly feel like she runs much better
