Need help removing 2013 q7 tdi intake manifold

looked at all audi and vw tdi videos, not enough detail. the plastic tray is difficult to remove, the attached photos show the top of a valve, second picture shows the valve underneath the tray. the round piece is holding the tray down, I am not ready to force it up without knowing more. if I break the valve , reconnecting the hose with new valve is going to be a nightmare.
the manifold itself is already too tedious! Can someone please let me know how to release the tray?

FYI I was shocked at how clogged the air intake was with an oil soot- Audi should be ashamed. My egr valve is acting up and now I suspect it is totally covered.
    all tips/suggestions welcome.
    Thanks
