Front grille color / seeking paint recommendation

Hi all, I just added a 2018 B9 Audi A4 2.0T Premium Plus ultra S-line to my collection (shown in photo).

I removed the front license plate and its mounting bracket. It resulted in a visible trough & screw holes on the front grille. So I ordered the Audi OE cover (part# 8W0 807 287 B RU6) which hides the trough and provide a flat surface.

The cover fits perfectly, but is black in color, whereas the grille section (between the horizontal chrome trims) is a matte dark metallic grey, so there’s a mismatch. I would like to paint the cover to match.

I don’t know what’s the correct paint color to use. Can someone here point me to an appropriate paint product? I’d like to use spray paint in an aerosol can for an even & consistent finish.

    Thanks in advance.

I know that Audi calls it twilight matte for regular grills and dark chrome for black optics. The Audi dealer can search your VIN and confirm. They also got me the best price for my black optics piece as opposed to anywhere online. It's almost the same price to get a new one than get a touch up kit that will likely chip over time.

Thanks @944thomas. I guess mine is the twilight matte because i don’t think my car has black optics.

An update: It turns out the part number of the cover piece I ordered (8W0 807 287 B RU6) was wrong for my car, the "RU6" suffix specifies dark chrome, for cars with black optics. I should have ordered 8W0 807 287 B RP5 instead. The "RP5" suffix is for twilight matte.

After doing some research and thinking about this, I decided that painting my current piece is not the best solution. There isn't an exact matching color paint available (from Audi or elsewhere). A close match could probably be found, but not perfect. As @944thomas said above, the painted piece would likely be chipped by debris over time. Therefore, the right solution is to get the correct cover piece. So I have ordered one and am waiting for its arrival.

If anyone wants the dark chrome one, PM me and I'll let you have it at a price cheaper than the Audi dealer.
