Does the Alarm Siren need to be relearned after replacing

2012 S4, noticed the car didnt have a chirp when i went to lock the doors. However when i hit panic it did in-fact sound fine. A code 01134- alarm horn fault and 01330-CCM fault was popped up so after doing research and many suggesting it could be the alarm siren i went ahead and replaced it. Upon replacing, the chirp is still not there and when i hit the panic button to see if it sounds, there is no sound now and just flashing marker lights. Does this have to be relearned or remapped through vagcom or something or should it just be plug and play? I purchased oem, 1K0 951 605F is the one that came, 1K0 951 605C is what was in it, not sure if the difference in letter matters. Could it be a dud from factory?

The alarm unit is a LIN bus slave of the J393 BCM2 ("CCM"). 01134 just means the alarm, it doesn't reflect the actual error. What was the actual error code? If you scan now, what are the codes? Complete info, not just a DFCC.

I got the code from obd eleven, fairly new to the app, not sure if i have to dig deeper into it to get an error code but i will post what came up on it. As seen it just states 01134. Is this something i can dig into on that app or will this be a trip to the shop?

Yeah, OBDeleven, such a pain. So the "fault code" of 01134 is not an error code, it's a "DFCC", which is a component identifier. This would be different if it was an OBD-II code like Pxxxx. So 01134 just means "the alarm unit". The actual numerical error code is not given, but the text interpretation is: "no signal/communication". Ok, so now we have a more complete error state. The J393 BCM2 states "no signal/communication" with the alarm horn unit. We also note it says no communication with the humidity sensor as well.

The fuel filler door lock actuator code is a common known issue. The locking actuator (open the fuel filler door, see the post that pops out, push it in, notice it rotates and locks in, then if you lock the car and push on it, it doesn't release (as it should since it's locked), that's the actuator) starts to flake out until it stops unlocking when you unlock the car and you have to use the red pull cord above the J393 to get the fuel filler door to release. It's like $50 and an easy replace.

Back to the no comms. The J393 to H12 alarm horn connection is a single wire LIN bus system. Black 32-pin, pin 16 (violet/white) goes out to the H12. At the H12 is a 3-pin plug. LIN on 1, ground on 2, 12v on 3. This 12v is term 30, always on. So you should measure 12v from pin 3 to pin 2, otherwise the H12 is "unpowered" and the comms error is just a result, not a cause. That 12v does come from a fuse, fuse 12 in column red on the driver's end of the dash.

The other no comms, to the G355 humidity sensor. This is a different pin on that black 32-pin, pin 32 (violet/yellow). So separate LIN bus than the H12 one. The G355 is housed in the rearview mirror mount, and it's pins are on the 8-pin connector plug: 12v on 1, ground on 2, LIN on 7. The 12v there is also always on, but from fuse 1 in column brown on the driver's end of the dash.

This is super informative and appreciate the in depth response and the explanations. This makes sense with The fuel door actuator because whenever i unlock and lock, i hear a unnormally loud noise coming from the gas cap area that i thought was normal with this cars but i have a buddy who has one and he mentioned his doesnt make any real noise at all so i appreciate that. I just ordered and will replace this weekend.

Do you think that may have had anything to do with why it wasn’t chirping before i went and replaced the old unit? Computer possibly thinking it wasnt locking when i locked the doors and therefore kept it from “alarming” ?

As far as the siren and humidity sensors i will dive into that this weekend and relay back with any information i find. I went over that thread you sent and i didnt search for that before i posted, sorry for having you repeat yourself as you mentioned valuable information in there as well. I am hoping i will not have that same issue lol. However i seen that the sunroof was mentioned a few times. I do notice when i click my sunroof one or 2 clicks to open, it goes to open and then sorta jams and stops. If i turn it completely to full open , it then opens up with less of a struggle. Wondering if this may have something to do with anything?

I can only assume it wasn't chirping because it couldn't communicate with the horn to tell it to chirp.

Sunroof, I would advise lubricating it and see where that goes. This is a sedan or the wagon with the panoramic? I have the latter; I don't know anything about common problems or maintenance for the sedan version.
