Hi there, new member here.
I have the above vehicle and the engine will intermittently not start.
When this happens, I start the engine as normal, then the revs will stutter and then the engine dies. I can start the engine after this and it runs for a couple of seconds before dying again.
When I try to start again, the engine turns over but won’t start.
If I disconnect the MAF plug, the engine starts as normal and I can drive as normal. The engine fan runs on max though. Then I plug the MAF back in and it runs as normal.
This happens intermittently, maybe once every few months or so.
I replaced the MAF with a Pierberg one and that made no difference. Since it seems to be a fuel supply issue by the way the engine peters out then stalls, I replaced the fuel pressure sensor in the fuel rail with a Bosch sensor.
Again this made no difference.
Has anyone experienced this before or could give a direction I can look in?
My understanding is that it must be a pure electrical issue since it is rectified instantly by unplugging the MAF. What I don’t know is which sensors the MAF compensates for when it’s unplugged therefore masking the problem.
Any help appreciated.
