    S-tronic Removed - Any "while you're in theres"?

    So I just got done pulling out the the 0B5 from my car (2011 S5 cab) to replace the clutches but since this is quite the project to remove, I wanted to seek the advice of others who have been down this road.
    Are there any things that you would recommend changing "while I'm there" because it's easier to do now and is likely to fail? Car has 48K miles on it.

    If i'm not mistaken, doing your timing chains usually requires some combination of service mode, partially dropping front subframe, partially moving the transmission, and or lifting engine off the motor mounts. Given that you have a 2011 model, you MIGHT not have the 'revised' timing chain guides etc.

    A smaller 'while you're in there' would be motor mounts if you've still got OEM get the street density mounts so you don't have to pay for that labor later down the road. I'll give a shoutout to JXB driveshaft carrier upgrade since you're already doing the trans why not stabilize your driveshaft. Get a new OEM transmission mount while you're at it.

    edit: I personally don't recommend test pipes, but i've read countless posts about what a pain it is to remove OEM catalytic converters, so if you're going to do test pipe this would be a good time for that.

    I would look into the reason why the clutches need replacing. Possibly a mechatronic issue you could update or repair while you’re in there. Many people get upwards of 150k out of a clutch pack. I have 152k and they grab like new. You may already be aware of why they failed but if not I’d look into it. I’m pretty sure the11s are the old potentially troublesome mech units.

    Thanks! I am pretty sure that the previous owner was kind of clueless. Car has 48K and pretty sure the DSG fluid was never changed and the mechatronic had issues. They changed the boards on the mech, retried and still had issues so they just gave up. I have replaced all of the solenoids and filters on the mech so hope that I will be in good shape and be able to enjoy the car.
    Honestly, if for some reason, I have to pull the mech unit again, no big deal. That is easy peasy compared to having to remove the whole transmission. Took a solid 8 hours to get it out and really hope I don't need to do it again.
