B&O Subwoofer missing from my Q5 - how easy is it to replace?

Hi All,

So I only discovered this because of another issue that I was busy trouble shooting.

I have no idea when exactly this occurred, or by who at this stage as the vehicle has been serviced by 2 deferent Audi dealerships in 2 different countries plus one transmission shop in the past 18 months, but I do know that there is no longer a B&O sub installed in the spare wheel of my 2013 Q5.
All I do recall is at some point my wife complaining that the sound had been adjusted and the bass seemed to have gotten very soft - so she adjusted it to almost full...

I was running Car Scanner over the weekend and scanning for faults when it popped up:

02247 - Subwoofer open circuit.

So I went to the boot/trunk and lifted the flooring and stood there in disbelief for a moment, cause I swear that there was a cover inside my spare wheel which is no longer there... I also noticed that the sub wires were cut off at the plug and stuffed under the carpet in the wheel well - can only guess this was to hide the fact there used to be something to plug into those wires in there if I ever went to change a flat.




Anyway here are the questions:

1. Can I simply buy a replacement B&O sub off eBay or the likes and plug it in? or are these things coded to the MMI?
2. The ones I have seen on eBay from A4/A3/Q2/Q3 so far all have a 4 pin plug on the sub and seem to have two speakers in them, the bare wires that I have lying in my boot are only 2 wires - so are there different subs?
3. Anyone know where I can purchase the plug to make up the end of the wires again into a plug to connect to the Sub when I get hold of one?

The sub enclosure is nothing more than a speaker. Those two wires are just speaker wires from the amp.

When looking for a part, it's only productive to look for the specifically relevant part. The only correct p/n for the subwoofer for the type 8R (B8 Q5) with B&O sound system and without hybrid drive system (Q5 hybrid) is 8R0035382A.

The harness plug is 1J0972923. No idea which wire terminal p/ns; dealership should be able to say which repair wires. The wires are either 1.5 mm² or 2.5 mm². The wiring diagrams are inconsistent.

I thought as much for the speaker...
Although the only B&O ones I can find online currently are all 8V0035382C (100+100W, 8+8ohm)
I'll try hunt down the part number you have given me there and see what I come across.
The wires, not too phased about, I can measure the thickness of the ones in the car now. I'll see if I can order the plug and terminals from my local dealership.

Quick update on this.

If anyone is looking for VAG connectors check out this page, they have absolutely everything it would seem at a fraction of the dealership pricing.

Why are you looking for subs that have no relation to your vehicle? MIB2 B&O DVC subs are not going to work.

8R0035382A. Such as https://www.ebay.com/itm/304586136870 Without the A is the sub for the standard sound system, with the A is the sub for the B&O sound system, in the 8R Q5.

I had no idea what I was looking for to be honest. I simply google searched B&O subwoofer for Audi and that was the part number that it came back with and the eBay links.

I have since found one with the part number you have provided for £26 on eBay!
