Set of FOUR Brand New 255/40R21 Continental ContiSportContact 5 Tires for SQ5

    Hey guys,

I’m selling a set of four brand new 255/40R21 Continental ContiSportContact 5 tires for the SQ5 with 21” wheels. These are brand new with the Continental stickers and have not been mounted or installed. They retail for $1,530.32 plus tax at Tire Rack. I’m asking $1,100 shipped for all four. This is a great way to save several hundred if your SQ5 needs new tires.

I’m located in SoCal and can also meet up locally which would save more money as they wouldn’t have to be shipped.

Please call or text me at 619-851-1566 as I’m not on this forum much.

    Thanks for looking!

Would have definitely taken these off your hands (local) if I weren't upgrading to 295's. Good luck with sale, I like these tires a lot.

Thanks for that. I looked but didn’t see them. My eyes aren’t as good as they once was.

Those tires are 3 years and 7 months old. I just purchase a set of Bridgestones on tire Rack for $600, retail $1,600, due to the date codes being 2021's. Yours are 2021's. You've reached half life on those tires and it's gonna be a hard sell at anything over $750.

These tires are brand new, never mounted or installed and have not reached “half life.”

As a general rule, tire manufacturers use 10 years for how long tires can be used. If they’ve been stored properly in a dark cool place with no sunlight, they can actually be used well past 10 years. Either way, 3.5 years old is nothing and doesn’t mean they’ve “reached half life.” It doesn’t work like that.

A quick search of Tirerack.com shows the cheapest Bridgestone tire in 255/40/21 coming in at $367 per tire plus tax, which is more than $100 per tire more than mine. Also keep in mind that Bridgestones are generally considered a cheaper tire than Continental which is more of a premium brand.

I realize that these are 20's but the point is that when a tire is a few years old, prices are discounted. According to tire rack that's a 55% discount over a fresh tire. You can say 10 years is the life of a tire but I purchased a GT3Rs with tires about 8 years old and although they looked new, they were slippery as hell. This was on a garaged car.

    Standard rule is 6 years.

Several European vehicle manufacturers of high-performance sports cars, coupes and sedans identify that "under no circumstances, should tires older than 6 years be used" in their vehicle owner's manual. However, it should be noted that European recommendations must include driving conditions that include roads like the German Autobahn, which allows vehicles to be legally driven at their top speeds for extended periods of time.

While American driving conditions don't include the high-speed challenges of the German Autobahn, Chrysler, Ford Motor Company and General Motors have joined their European colleagues by recommending that tires installed as Original Equipment be replaced after six years of service.
