    G28, G163, G40 dead??

    16706 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28):
    P0322 - 0004 - - - No Signal Intermittent
    17800 Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 2 (G163):
    P1392 - 001--Open Short to Plus
    17746 Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 2 (G40):
    P1338 - 001--Open Short to Plus

Sooo just replaced front bearings and rebooted axles shafts and an now getting these codes.

And got the above yesterday with no start.
car ran fine before the axle work..

Tomorrow I get to play electrical guy.

G163 and G40 seem to have a common ecu ground (b) that I will check tomorrow.
There is also 5v Common to all the CPS's

I am not sure what is common to the Crank sensor yet

I don't see any common fuse for these three, but maybe I have missed something??

I will work on showing the wiring diagram NO. 3/12 posted "soon."

Any other ideas or tips other things to check would be great.

    Fun times.

"Open short to Plus", from what I know, means the sensors are not grounded - so the output signals float up to Battery +. The ECU just sees a 12V signal and is too dumb to know why. Try checking any of the sensor connectors, which I'd expect have a ground pin. See if that has good continuity to battery/engine/body grounds. Since car electrical or electronic problems often originate at wiring connections or terminations, I have a habit of every year or so just disconnecting everything reasonably accessible, and making sure the connections are clean or body connections tight and not corroded.

Ok.so crank sensor plug was loose, as that plug has no lock.

And there were shorts between cam sensor ecu common (not chassis ground) and center wire sense (ecm) pins.

Also, Power pin to cam sensors is ecm 5V.

I removed the electrical tape that was on the connectors and short disappeared. Wires into connectors was twisted.

I rewrapped the center sense wire separately close to the connector with tape, so wires couldn't twist up close to the plug, and wrapped it back up.

    Thanks for the tip.
