Hey guys, wanted to share some shots of my B5 S4 at the autobahn country club in Joliet, il. I haven’t been at the track with the car in years and must say I was super pleased with how well it did. Many folks that were there gave me props and were not only surprised to see a B5 there but how well the car did overall. It was a great time and my buddy and I are planning to go to Blackhawk farms in October. Enjoy

What brakes did you run and how did they hold up?

    B5 S4 Track Day

Running stoptech st40 front brakes with their sport compound pad along with jhm rear brake kit and the same stoptech sport pads. Castrol srf react brake fluid. Brakes held up great, no fade or loss of braking power throughout the day. However they did take a beating. Couple of pics below.

Front pads were replaced few hundred miles before event.

    Rear Pads

Light surface rust seen is because I took pictures after washing the car up and swapping back to my BBS’s

The Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 are 18X8 ET 35 with Falken 235/40R18 tires. Thanks! Car is a Euro spec, so the rear bumper and facelift euro trunk came on the car. Only S4 I've seen with rear backup sensors. RS4 bumper I fitted to it like 8-9 years ago, it was a blast at the track. I do need to upgrade cooling as car started to run a little hot on water temp towards the end of each 30 minute session, so it'll be getting a csf radiator and external oil cooler.

Dude... I'm in Rockford. Hit me up when you go to Blackhawk!

October is basically what I am shooting for as far as a completion date and I could use a deadline like that.

What supension set up are you using? Did you have to roll your fenders for that tire setup? Sick B5, such timeless cars. I am getting back into a B5 shortly.

Has factory new bushings and suspension components that were done few years back. For now it’s got st coilovers on it along with hotchkins sway bars front and rear with subframe reinforcement along with 034 sway bar links.

I do have rolled fenders, however at current height it wouldn’t be necessary. I did it when I fitted the rs4 front bumper and had the front end painted and what not. Figured it was a good time to do it. Glad I did since my BBS LM’s are a 30 offset with a 235 width tire. So definitely helps they were rolled.

Next spring planning on upgrading to Bilstein pss9 coilovers, 034 subframe bushings and possibly replacing all suspension bushings front and rear with poly along with some adjustable front uppers.

Instead of starting a new thread, figured I’d just post a few pictures from Blackhawk Farm in South Beloit IL track day here. Enjoy.

Hoping to get out to a few HPDE’s in the near future. Will be my first real go, I’d like to get all my rear suspension sorted before hitting the track. I’m in Orland Park, hope to see you around sometime

That'll be my next project, swap out all the rear bushings, upgrade coil overs to pss9's, and put in spc adjustable front arms. Funny you say that, I work in Orland Park. If you ever see a silver B5 A4 wagon, chances are that's me.

That avant is super clean. I’ve sent pictures of it to my friend many times telling him to track one down as a project. Day by day, I’m in a daytona gray B8.5. My B5 has been down for 2 years but will be back on the road shortly (ish), just wrestled the engine back into it yesterday.

What is happening in the above post?

Granted what I'm about to say is considered biased, considering the website we're on now, if you where to get into motorsports one of the #1 lurking, unknown and dominate cars you can buy is the B5 A4 1.8t which run the fastest times of all the availabilities of common motor swaps. If you were get into high end racing series, one would think the 911's and Vettes would rain supreme...the B5 crushes them! The S4 does very well too, I've seen automotive journalist witnessing from the stands and pits what the S4 on the track is doing to the rest of the field, and as a complete strangers ask to sit passenger in B5 S4's (even though they have no affliction or attachment to Audi) for what turned out not to be a couple laps they asked for, but ask to remain for more.

The A4 B5 was so fast in racing series it was banned, what the S4 gains in power is loses into and out of turns vs the 1.8T, not so much powerband vs one vs the other, yet too nose heavy vs the 1.8T. What I want to see is a front tubular frame, front aluminum radiator support, BILLET block, billet axles, billet hubs (8:1 weight reduction on the axles and hubs) B5 S4 and hit the laps (radiator, battery moved to back) to bring the S4 into balance like the A4. It's not about making the S4 lighter, and more about make the nose lighter. I've never seen anyone disappointed tracking a B5 S4...I see people surprised it did so well.

And this is kinda my stink with S4's and or the community as get so fixated on launches and 0-60's, pulls, as that is NOT what the car is about. As one person said, B5's and drag racing don't belong in the same sentence. Yet S4's just crush it so well on those 0-60's many have lost focus on what the car is about, as the car belongs in the turns and not the I-10 highway or a concrete jungle. Granted now, prices are rising and cars are older, I wouldn't want to take a really built really nice S4 road course racing as it color fades all the calipers, tar, rock chips, stressing everything out and so rough on everything.

Thanks! I bought it from the 2nd owner 3 years ago with 50k miles, it's been a great daily. That's awesome, I know your car exactly. Gorgeous B8.5 by he way, very nicely modified. Just looks great, like you said small world. Looking forward to seeing the B5 when it's back up and running.

Thank you, much appreciated! It’s fallen victim to daily driver use and needs a good refresh mechanically and visually (especially all the carbon) as a result. See ya around!
