What is happening in the above post?
Granted what I'm about to say is considered biased, considering the website we're on now, if you where to get into motorsports one of the #1 lurking, unknown and dominate cars you can buy is the B5 A4 1.8t which run the fastest times of all the availabilities of common motor swaps. If you were get into high end racing series, one would think the 911's and Vettes would rain supreme...the B5 crushes them! The S4 does very well too, I've seen automotive journalist witnessing from the stands and pits what the S4 on the track is doing to the rest of the field, and as a complete strangers ask to sit passenger in B5 S4's (even though they have no affliction or attachment to Audi) for what turned out not to be a couple laps they asked for, but ask to remain for more.
The A4 B5 was so fast in racing series it was banned, what the S4 gains in power is loses into and out of turns vs the 1.8T, not so much powerband vs one vs the other, yet too nose heavy vs the 1.8T. What I want to see is a front tubular frame, front aluminum radiator support, BILLET block, billet axles, billet hubs (8:1 weight reduction on the axles and hubs) B5 S4 and hit the laps (radiator, battery moved to back) to bring the S4 into balance like the A4. It's not about making the S4 lighter, and more about make the nose lighter. I've never seen anyone disappointed tracking a B5 S4...I see people surprised it did so well.
And this is kinda my stink with S4's and or the community as get so fixated on launches and 0-60's, pulls, as that is NOT what the car is about. As one person said, B5's and drag racing don't belong in the same sentence. Yet S4's just crush it so well on those 0-60's many have lost focus on what the car is about, as the car belongs in the turns and not the I-10 highway or a concrete jungle. Granted now, prices are rising and cars are older, I wouldn't want to take a really built really nice S4 road course racing as it color fades all the calipers, tar, rock chips, stressing everything out and so rough on everything.
