    Turbo/ fuel recommendations?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Currently in the process of pulling the trigger (tonight hopefully) on a bigger turbo build for my 13 a5. Currently my turbo was replaced at 92k by previous owner (oem). As of right now I’m on full bolt on stage 2 IE, that I’m not all that happy with. Maintenance wise I’ve done everything. I just finished doing chain with upper and lower cover and just did oil cooler. But pretty much every sensor also and the HPFP with a hitchachi HPFP. Car runs good. i do have the CPMA (flex fuel) so when it comes to parts, it’s rough. I’d like to upgrade injectors and also turbo. I’m stuck between the CTS k04x and the TTE 450l. I guess TTE has had some quality control issues recently and don’t wanna take that gamble but also there’s good and bad with every company. it’s also almost double the cost. Mabo tech also had a very nice turbo setup. Anyone have any input with any of these setups? Also fuel wise. With the cpma I have 5 injectors. I’m also interested in upgrading the HPFP piston and possible fuel injectors. Uro tuning reached out and said nostrum makes a kit with hpfp/ injectors. I’m waiting to hear back from them. Any help would be appreciated.

    Did you buy your upgrade?

FWIW, I got my Nostrum EA888 set on their site shipped for about $150 less than what Frank Mabo quoted me for the same.

However, you can run OEM S3 injectors for much less money and have plenty of fuel for a k04x or tte450. The problem is tuning. Not as many options for the Med17.1.1 ecu. Have you seen the JHMotorsports td05 kit? I’ve got one on the way and if you’re ok spending extra on fuel parts, then might as well flow the air for it and they can tune both engine and tranny modules.

I ended up going with Fred @ united motorsports
Unfortunately I did not buy fuel upgrades yet. Kinda sidetracked but back in motion.
I’m really considering going with nostrum’s fuel bundle, the injectors and hpfp w the upgraded line. All in it’s about a grand which isn’t bad, I’d rather not just run the upgraded piston like most. UM can definitely tune it but he also said the next big step would be tuning the tcu ( which he can’t do ). There’s one person I know that can @ Tyler at ward performance that can do both. My cts 1070x maxs out about 400hp. I’m probably sitting around 350ish now. Nostrum said it would definitely help increase flow and if I’m going to do it I’d do both together.
I hear great things about jhm and then I hear bad lol.

Also are the s3 injectors compatible with the b8 a5 (cpma) everywhere I see says they’re not. And I just looked up that jhm kit. Looks pretty good. Pricey but good. I paid a little over 1800$ for my cts kit.

Been doing research on this too and finally pulled the trigger on the nostrum units. Key things that helped with my decisions are they are fully e85 compatible (I’m a CPMB flex fuel engine) and the spray pattern “matches” the oem stock injectors. They are made for our engine!

When I spoke to nostrum they said I’d use their ROW hpfp. But they said their injectors are basically drop in with a tune. That’s my next step is to get their bundle. Tuner said it would be not a problem, but I don’t know if you have issues with finding someone to tune yours as well, but not many people tune the b8’s with the cpma

they are only compatible if you are tuned for them, you cant just swap to a higher flow injector without tuning for it. I am running Bosch 026150001H injectors (s3, golf r, TTS).

Can’t speak to cpma issues as I also have cpmb.
JHM td05 kit is more comparable to a BOSS500.

Correct. Zilch. Only a dust cap, sufficient packing, and the flow/scalar documentation.

    Probably.
Better reviews, prices, and availability compared to Mabotech, but I’ve no first hand experience tuning them or comparing the two on a flow bench. Also significant flow potential compared to using OEM S3/TTS models, so makes sense for full E hybrid builds as well as blends for “big” turbos.

Yeah so the s3/tts are bigger than stock b8.5 cpma injectors but not quite as big or much flow as the nostrom ones. The cts turbo I have is only rated for 400. In just basically debating on which injectors to run.

So the s3/tts injectors are bigger then the oem b8 flex but not as quite as big as the nostrom ones correct?
