    2021 S5 garage door opener

Hey all! Just purchased a 2021 S5 and am struggling with the garage door opener install/program. Anyone with a similar vehicle have any suggestions? Thanks!!

I programmed mine last night. Same vehicle 2021 S5

go to the Homelink set up in the MMI start the programing procedure, then Push the program button on the door opener itself on the ceiling, then go back in the car and point the garage door remote towards the rear view mirror and press the button on the garage door opener. Then press the home link button on the MMI for appx 2 seconds. This solved our issue with an older garage door opener.

Mine would not self learn as described in the owners manual on page 48.

Mine would not "synchronize" either, so I had to make my door opener learn.

Be careful when you do this though. When I was doing this previously with an S4, once I put the opener in learning mode, some neighbors of mine used their remote to open their garage door... So, before I could push the button on my car, the opener learned the new code from my neighbor... Next day, the garage door was opening by itself, and it was a really strange feeling. LOL Then I figured it out. I then had to purge all the remotes from the opener, and redo each opener, car, etc. And I did it late at night so that the likelihood of someone else using the clicker was less.

Big thanks. I’ll give that a try.

Man what a mess! Glad you got it figured out and well noted! Thanks

If you have an older garage door opener, and if you car has side assist, there's a TSB for that problem.
Side assist interferes with the garage door opener.

I've tried to program my 2019 S5 several times with no luck (despite other vehicles and homelinks working fine). I notice the TSB says A5 but not S5. Too bad, I was hoping there was a fix. Feels really stupid having to use the opener remote in an expensive luxury car with homelink.

The TSB works for all A5, S5, RS5 with side assist.

I was able to get mine working last weekend.

It's got some great features and seems to be reliable for many folks. However, like any machine, it can have its quirks. When it comes to garage door repair, the 2021 S5 model is a solid choice. If you're experiencing issues, it might be worth checking the basics first, like ensuring the sensors are aligned and the remote batteries are fresh. If that doesn't solve it, a professional garage door repair service could be your best bet. They can pinpoint the problem and get your opener back on track.

Patience is the name of the game if you have an older garage opener. Audi has a YouTube videos that show how to program the remote, you can follow along to ensure you’re not missing a step. It took me a few tries to get my S5 Homelink to work, but if finally did. Now if I could only set the garage open prompt to show up when I pull up to my garage instead of a few houses down, that would be great!!!
Technology is great but I do miss an actual physical button to open my garage door.

If you swipe down from the top of the screen, it will show the garage door opener button. I just wish mine would work more than 25% of the time.

This post included several things to consider when trying to get better, more consistent performance from your garage door opener and homelink system. Perhaps it'll be helpful.

I had a 2019 Sportback before my current one and had lots of issues with the garage door as well. My current car my Navarra Blue sportback was even more difficult. I just ended up using my garage door clicker. Which is odd considering my parents garage door was super easy.

I spent nearly an hour trying to program my garage door into homelink. Once I pulled the fuse in the trunk for the side assist it programmed right away. Would like to have seen that TSB back at the time to save a lot of headache. I found some post in the forums from someone who got it to work that way as I certainly didn't figure that out myself. My garage door opener was fairly new so its not just old ones. My guess is if you tried everything pulling the fuse will be the solution. Once programmed put the fuse back in. Mine has worked 100% since then.
