    Thanks, I have these.
I was just curious to see if your build would solve it differently. Still contemplating a similar setup.

Just got this update in from the shop:

Exhaust is tacked up and will be getting finish welded today and early next week.

Rear driveshaft missing from swap kit so was sent out a spare. Same issue with front axles - nowhere to be found so waiting on spares hopefully either today or early next week for that too.

Not sure how long the tips stick out past the bumper/diffuser since that is a 0.5x picture. Shouldn’t be anything too obnoxious, just hoping I won’t want it shortened.

Looking at the stock rear arms and the all new adjustable fronts gets me thinking to do the same for rears - will see how it handles with just the rear sway bar and Bilsteins for now.

I think you should have them adjust that. IMHO tips should be near flush with body.

BTW, what size piping is that?

The mufflers almost most like they are upside down, the the longer edge of the slanted tip on the bottom rather than the top.

    Update:

Driveshaft issues have pushed this project weeks past when it was expected. The first shipment was lost, the second resulted in a gap of 2.5”, and now waiting on the third measured at 64.25” (3.0 driveshaft?). As soon as this comes in, the car will be running and driving - starting break-in and tuning.

Will make the comment - I’m told from the top of the bumper that are flush but I’m going to suggest cutting before the muffler and moving them in more. 3 inch piping.

Tips are straight and mufflers are in the correct orientation (doesn’t matter since hangers were welded on custom).

Driveshaft issue has been sorted, have run into more decisions to make ahead of hopefully taking delivery back of the car end this week. Part out to follow of old parts, including s-line front bumper and grille, side skirts, 3 door blades, bare block, bare head, 17” wheels and tires.

Planned to originally use a Walbro 450, but ended on a TTRS full package from A2B which will be more than enough.

Also finalized the wastegate using a Turbosmart unit that plumbs back into the exhaust.

Big Turbo Brilliant Black B7 A4 Build

Here she is, first picture of her whole since June when she was driven to the shop in stock form. Running and driving, ready for the dyno and a full custom tune next week. Also scheduled for a full paint correction courtesy of A2B as a thank you for bringing the project to them and a gift for dealing with delays we ran into.

Lots still to button up, both exterior and interior. Side skirts still to be decided on, since the stock will be getting paint corrected I may hold off on the OSIR until I wrap the car Noggy. Door blades yet to go on, will be done post correction. Water meth controller to be mounted to steering column with 3M velcro, and dual defrost gauge pod/gauges to be installed.

Also ordered a new Enfig Sony XAV-6000 head unit kit for wireless CarPlay, since the cheap one I have laying around from 4 years ago is for wired CarPlay.

Side note: definitely need to lower the rear to match the front and maybe more of a spacer. Will confirm they are installed.

This is an incredible sounding build! Definitely going to be following this! I also have a built motor b7. I'm currently running the TDO5HR but I've been considering a bigger turbo

Just took a trip up to the shop, looking like one more day of tuning left next Monday and the car should be complete mechanically. T51R mod on the G25-660 sounds awesome, don’t know how to get a video on here.

Lots of interior to put back in: new B8 alcantara steering wheel and airbag, p3 & prosport gauges/pods, carbon trim, euro window switches, etc.

Exterior is missing the carbon fiber door blades that still need to be put on, and ECS the street shield.

I know its expected to run into issues, but this is a weird one holding the delivery of the car back.

Aside from it being nearly 8 months without the car and tuning delays since November, today we found a mechanical issue that once fixed made the car noticeably faster and in need of less tuning revisions:

The brake booster was partially engaging the brakes at all times. This put unnecessary pressure on the drivetrain and obviously held the car back from performing how it should. Grabbing a used unit off of a parts car from the shop, should fix the issue. Issue was unable to be replicated with the booster disconnected, so now to fix it with the new unit.

    The remaining list:

    - Bi-Laser Custom Headlights

    - Enfig Wireless CarPlay Kit

    - Front Carbon Door Blades

    - OSIR Side Skirts

    - ECS Street Shield Skid Plate

    - Billet Sun Visor Clips

    - Black Middle Sun Visor

    - Black Rear View Mirror

    - Euro Chrome Window Switches

    - Carbon Rear Ashtray Cover

    - Bigger Rear Spacer +5mm

She’s finally home - 8 months and change.

Hasnt hit the dyno but we’re thinking 450 wheel being it beat MK6’s that were pushing that with dynosheets to back it.

Shop seems to have misplaced the front rings, so hopefully they turn up when I go back up in a week or so - ABS and TC lights need to be reset and tuner was of course not available. Headlights also need to be adjusted, definitely pointing a bit low at the moment.

Everything on the list is done, besides a larger rear spacer and the OSIR primer only side skirts.

Will post pictures of the Enfig kit installed soon.

    CONGRATS! We need some videos!

BTW, the MAF sensor is a great indicator of power (as it measures airflow). On the stock MAF housing and ECU scaling its a pretty accurate 1:1 on WHEEL hp. Divide the MAF reading by .8 for an estimated engine HP.

Put in the Enfig kit today, was super easy with their installation video and labeled bags. Opted for the Sont XAV-AX6000 for wireless CarPlay and it works flawlessly. The faceplate makes it look OEM+ so just what I’m going for.

She’s on a trailer already lol. No connection to the ECM, suspecting a fuse was blown when installing LED interior lights.

Perfect opportunity to have it lowered since it’ll only ever be 2 people in the car, and put a bigger rear spacer on since it’s still sunk into the fender.

Shop lost my grille rings, having them comp me a new set since it was $500+.

Headlights also need to be adjusted and may need to be opened up, adjustment screws are not working well and were not adjusted when I picked the car up.

Also found the driver’s side fender turn signal inside the fender instead of the signal housing, so that’s on their list too.

Steering wheel is off-center to add to everything, by one or two splines.

Looks good. Hope you figure out the issue.
Get some carbon mirror caps, would look good.
Any plans to de-chrome the windows?

De-chrome is coming up, deciding between DIY and having a shop do it - any experience? Carbon mirrors will come in time, if I don’t go with S4 aluminum covers since the rings will stay chrome.

Also wondering if a 15mm spacer should be that sunk in on an 18x8 wheel? Can try a 2.5 on top of it or go to a 20 but puzzled a bit.

De chrome: I tried myself with vinyl. Too difficult 😞 Will do it at a shop eventually. Have to fix paint first.

I run 10 or 15mm spacers (can’t remember) with stud conversion. Looks great.

Definitely leaning to having a shop do it, but might hold out until I do a color change. Although that depends if I want to change, carbon fenders, trunk, and grille might look alright with the black. Rings are staying chrome so may keep the rest as well.

Funnily enough just found out shop didn’t install my front spacers, and put the rear spacers on the front. So as it sits its 15mm in the front and 0mm in the rear, when it should be 10mm front 15mm rear.

You don’t know the half of it… I held off posting anything negative on here since I was recommended, but this project was supposed to be finished last October lol. It has wildly disappointed me in terms of time.

From losing parts to delays with an outsourced tuner it has taken just over 8 weeks to get the car to maybe 90% finished with still missing parts and codes to be flashed out.

    Update:

The 15mm rear spacers were put on the front, and the 10mm front spacers were not put on at all. Claiming wrong lug pattern and bore, however these were verified to fit and sold in a kit. Having them source another set of 10mm spacers on their dollar. Car should be able to sit properly front and rear following this correction.

Also on them is my missing front grille rings and carbon housing; they get to order from the supplier in Hong Kong and I get to wait an estimated 3 weeks for it to be sent.

^Ive had some similiar (nightmare) experiences with 'qualified performance audi shops' with the B7.. I think it stems from an aging platform. The nuances are not top of mind to a lot of the techs turning the wrenches. Many of them were toddlers when the cars where new and they dont have any real world/hands on experience.

All of that goes out the window when you have piles of shiney parts and a lot of money to give them..

I dropped my car off on a monday and was told it would be ready no later than thursday. They had the car over 9 months and did some MAJOR damage to the wiring (ABS, TC, Yaw control sensors tinkered with.. bc they had trouble bleeding the brakes). YIKES

Now I try to do it all my self, which takes even longer.. but at least is my own headaches and messes to sort through lol.

It wasn’t even a lack of skill in my opinion - all things considered the car ran great, drove great, and sounded great, all for about 6 days.

The issue I had with them was losing parts and not putting small things on without telling me. Had I not had the crank no start issue, I never would’ve been told about the spacers or similar issues I pointed out because the car wouldn’t have gone back to that shop.

And then there’s the tuner… cannot believe he complained to the shop about how long it took to flash the car every time when he gets paid to do so. And the car was pending a tune for a full calendar month from November to December.

Sucks to hear. It's tough to find a shop that checks all the boxes.

It's a story I hear far to often on all auto forums.

I'm in the "want it done right, do it yourself" crowd. Couldn't imagine dropping all that coin, entrusting a shop with the car and a ton of parts, only to have them "misplace" rare items, and not install what you provided properly. Not even talking about time delays, stall tactics, and what is sometimes just blatant lies when you ask a status.

Well, I wish you the best of luck in getting this sorted in a reasonable fashion.

I do appreciate your tact in this thread. Some people jump the gun and put people on blast immediately without giving the shop/vendor a chance to make right. This situation though, doesn't inspire confidence in the shop's ability to meet expectations, which is poo poo ca-choo.

im following a podcast from a big VW/Euro shop here, and his guest are other owner of big Vw/euro shops.

And the topic of what they 'want' to do on cars nowadays is always up front.

Basically, they dont do swaps anymore or even ''stage 3''. They dont want to risk, take time to research and they dont have the labour to do custom stuff. Doing oil and brake change is more profitable $, aka in-out.

Sad reality. They can do intakes, pulley and stage 2 flash tune, but pretty much it. Anyway most new S/RS audi now are mental with only simple bolt-ons.

Some will go ''stage 3'', but they are rare and expensive, at least around my area. I can definitively feel it at euro meet, not much unique ''built'' now

one of the reason why I went BMW for big power, very easy to go big turbo without any external help, even with the tune and coding.

Big Turbo Brilliant Black B7 A4 Build

Update: Car is running again and it’s been daily driven for the better part of a week now without hiccups. Crank no start was caused by two blown fuses under the ECU.

Making a trip up to the shop with the car tomorrow to attempt to code ABS and TC, install rear spacers and fix fitment, maybe get an alignment, change back to OEM halogen lights (passenger main beam adjustment assembly came broken), as well as bringing some parts sent by Faithful Rainbow to be installed.

Think I’d be comfortable leaving the trunk exposed carbon, not sure about the fenders. Depending on how all of the carbon looks on the black the Nogaro wrap could be coming sooner than expected.

Full EU carbon fiber trunk with integrated lip spoiler:

Full carbon fiber vented front fenders

How’s the weight on the carbon parts? Where are they from?

Remember getting a carbon hood for my STI only to find out the OEM hood was lighter ;)

I’m told the trunk is about 10lbs where the OEM is closer to 30/40lbs. Not sure on the wings, but they should be lighter than OEM even if marginal since they are fully carbon fiber as opposed to a skinned fiberglass wing.

All carbon on the exterior is from Faithful Rainbow, commonly resold by OSIR.
