    2.0t rough idle and oil pressure light

    Hi I’m trying to help my in-laws regarding there 12 Audi a4 it has 132k miles from my understanding timing has been done i don’t have a vag com at the moment but this is the codes i got with a obd scanner, some research says it could be cam bridge screen causing the issue , vct solenoid , camshaft , or camshaft balance any guidance would
    Be appreciated vehicle runs fine but idles very rough and has low oil pressure when started

    P0299 is probably just a loose wastegate issue; very common on the CAEB engine.

    P0341 is an intake cam VVT issue. Could be any number of things. You should remove the N205 solenoid on the upper timing cover and look at the control valve inside. It has a center pin, that pin should be flush with the valve, not sticking out.

    P2188, injectors are not uncommon on these to eventually have one fail open, so it might be dumping too much fuel. Or the fuel rail pressure might be too high if the HPFP is being mismanaged. That could be related to:

    P0016 - yeah, you need to get serious about assessing what's going on real quick or you might be replacing a head or engine soon. This is usually the precursor to losing the timing and jacking up the internals. But that's easy enough to validate, remove the inspection cover on the lower timing cover and see where the current tensioner extension is at. If it's out so there's 6-7 or more ridges beyond the right edge (ie, the piston extending out of the tensioner space), you need to look to have the chain replaced. It could be it's already jumped a tooth and that's creating your other operational issues. You'd need to turn it manually to cyl 1 TDC and do the measurements of the cam marks to see if they are in spec.

    "from my understanding timing has been done", validate that. How long ago was that done? Could be something wasn't done exact and the timing is off? That's where the cam marks measurements would come in handy.

    The malfunction of the brown oil pressure switch is a concern too. Could it be just a failed switch, or a wiring issue to the switch. The switch has just one pin on it, it grounds to the engine, same as the alternator and ac compressor do.

    Sir thank you for being kind enough to respond i appreciate you a lot, they are older so generally when they take the vehicle to get maintenance at when they lived in nj 9/10 whatever was recommended they would do even if the vehicle truly didn’t need it, i have successfully done couple of 2.0 timing chains and did my s4 3.0 tensioner and chains recently with no issues, i will check out the vvt and n205 as well, and check out the oil pressure sensor brown one as well, I’ve read that the Cambridge screen comes off and even sometimes the check valve ball causing the low oil pressure also read that bad vvt can cause a p0016 the vehicle has higher mileage 138k ish and it was serviced at a euro indi shop i will definitely check the tensioner from the inspection cap and Vcds to see if there any stretch ect. Before i dug in i wanted to ask for input and i appreciate yours.
