With the advent of new technology comes the unfortunate side effect of regulations that do not allow North American owners to have the full functionality of what that their car can offer. Luckily there are ways to activate items that are not generally available for the North American market and one of the most useful and advanced are the full matrix high beams that so many new Audi models come with but do not function in North America. These can now be activated along with some other lighting functions depending on your model and factory fitted equipment:

Information:
A little disappointed with your matrix LED headlights only acting like standard LED headlights? This package has the tools and software coupled with a remote session to activate the full matrix LED and/or laser headlight functionality for your North American model to get the most out of your headlights. This only works with models that have factory fitted matrix LED headlights. Not sure how matrix high beams function, please take a moment to watch the video above.

Blue Laser Light Activation - For cars with laser equipped headlights get the most from those as well as the laser only blue accent lighting to set your car apart from the rest.

Maneuvering Lighting - For 2019+ A6, S6, RS6, A7, S7, RS7, A8, S8, Q7, SQ7, Q8, SQ8, RSQ8, e-tron, Q8 e-tron, SQ8 e-tron models with exterior door handle illumination these can also add maneuvering lighting which activates the door handle illumination around the vehicle in reverse for added lighting when it's dark outside.

Ordering:
Ordering is completed through the website with the product link above. A VAS interface will be sent out for your purchase or rental depending on your selection. VAS rentals are supplied with a UPS return label (*note that VAS rentals are only available within North America). Instructions are included for setting up the remote session which can take as little as 15 minutes but can take longer for 2024 models which require additional work to activate.

In the event that a future dealership visit removes the full matrix functionality this can be re-activated at no labor cost. The VAS interface is required for re-activating after a dealership visit that removes this functionality so it can be beneficial to purchase that interface for future use. If you choose to rent the VAS interface a deposit will be held until the interface is returned within 15 days of departure to your location. Once the interface is returned the deposit will be voided.

A. No, only a $300 deposit is being taken on checkout and held for the VAS interface rental. When the VAS interface is returned after your rental the $300 deposit is voided completely.

I've heard that if the dealer does an update it clears the programming. If so how does work regarding re-installing the program? Would it be best to purchase the VAS interface?

A dealership during a service, warranty repair or recall could possibly clear the matrix activation. Every purchase comes with free re-activation so all you have to do is make another appointment for the remote work.

If you rent the VAS interface then you need to re-rent the VAS interface. This can be done at a $35 cost not including the shipping back and forth. The downside to this is having to wait for a VAS interface to ship to you and sometimes the rentals are all out with customers so there can be a 1-2 week wait or so until the rental interface ships.

If you purchase the VAS interface the nice thing is you just make a re-activation appointment and you are good to go. No waiting, no shipping and zero cost.

A Windows based laptop is always easiest, but you can use a Mac so long as it has a virtual environment where Windows based programs can be installed. If you have bootcamp or something similar that works or a VMWare virtual environment can be setup if you really only have access to a Mac without a virtual environment. That can be done at no added cost.

Unfortunately VCDS, OBD11, VCP and others cannot be used for this type of activation.

The VAS5054A interface works with the Audi workshop diagnostic platform ODIS that is used for the remote work.

With that said you can just rent a VAS5054A interface which is at no added cost to the activation and a return label is also included. Once the interface is returned the $300 deposit that is held is voided.

Audi is moving to a stricter security protocol which some of you have already run into this while trying to code simple things on your 2024 models. Due to this stricter protocol we have been preparing so that the activation service and other remote procedures are never interrupted.

We have moved away from the venerable, tried and true VAS5054A interface to the more advanced DoIP capable VAS6154A interface. These new VAS6154A interfaces will make activations faster plus after quite a bit of testing and sorting all of these interfaces that come with your order from Europrice will be fully updated to handle the newest SFD2 security protocols which are coming soon.

This means new activations and any re-activations for current customers will occur without skipping a beat when the newest security protocols are put into place, plus shorter activation times!

Just wanted to give a plug for activation of matrix headlights. When I first activated them I thought I would get flashed all the time by other drivers. Has not happened. I was doing some late night driving last night on two lane highways in some rural areas. Amazing how it lights up everything except other cars. I'm not sure what drivers ahead of you think when you are lighting up the side of the road ahead of them without blinding them in their rear view mirrors! It just makes all the difference in the world.

It really does make a world of difference. It does seem like something minor or really unneeded, but then you get a ride or drive a car with the full matrix functionality and it's a game changer!

I see on the site that it’s $699 plus 300 for activation plus refundable 300 for the rental. Is that correct? So if I want to get it done it’s $999 plus a refundable $300? Just clarifying

The matrix activation is $699.

If you purchase a VAS interface that is $300.

If you rent a VAS interface $300 is held as an authorization only on your payment method. That $300 is not charged/collected while you rent the VAS interface. So when you return the interface that $300 authorization is voided. That authorization disappears from your payment account.
