    How to properly jack up the front wheels AND put on jackstands?

    I was taking a look at a 2019 8V trying to figure out how to do it, and it looks like if I put the jack under the front jackpoint, then the jack will end up being right where the jackstand needs to go to get under the pinch weld. I tried placing it out and it looks like if I were to continue with this setup, only half the jackstand would be under the reinforced portion of the pinch weld. The only solution I could think of was to get the front up on ramps first so that I could position the jack somewhere other than right behind the wheel.

    Am I doing something stupid or are (front) the jackpoint/pinch weld placement far too close together?

    I'm using a Daytona Long reach low profile jack

    If the stands would not interfere with the job you are doing you can place them under the front subframe to support the vehicle. I don't prefer this approach as you have to get under the vehicle to place them there, but it works. I purchased a system (Craftsman) that has the stand built into the jack so when you release the jack the stand part of the unit takes over and it's a one shot deal. They no longer make the jack/stand combo I have but there are things like that on Amazon now. They are a bit expensive but I find them really handy and I feel very secure working on the car using this system.

    I would strongly prefer not climbing underneath -- I had thought of something similar -- jacking from the pinch weld, sliding a tire under, and then placing the jackstand at the jacking point. But it overall seemed preferable to get the front up on ramps and then jack from the jacking point from the front of the car. I just can't believe that the jack point and pinch weld jack stand points seem to interfere with one another.

    I had seen those kinds of stands before (Jackpoint Jackstands come to mind), but they just seemed crazy expensive and I opted against them.

    Issues such as these are why I ended up buying a quickjack. An expensive initial investment, but easy and secure jacking.

    Not stupid at all, the car is designed for techs with lifts, not enthusiasts! My solution was to install magnetic aluminum jack mounts on the frame rail at the center of gravity, which is pretty much under the front doors on these cars. Then you can jack up the whole side and place jack stands under the pinch welds or lift mount points.

    Yeah, I take care of my own, and my families vehicles, so the investment in the combo jack/stand worked out for me. With that and a the set of rhino ramps I can get a vehicle in the air and level for things like fluids. For other work like tire rotations, brake jobs and etc... the combo makes live very easy.

    I jack up the car via the rear driver side pinch weld until the front driver side is high enough to put a jack stand under the pinch weld. Put jack stand under the front pinch weld. And repeat on other side.

    Also if you don’t won’t to damage the rear pinch welds you can use the jack point near the pinch weld. Look for a plastic inverted ramp looking thing… sorry don’t know how else to describe it.

    Another option is use rennstands.

    When I got my A7 last year, I knew I’ll be doing my own oil change. I had to get low profile jack, and got this jack pad not to damage or slide the car of a lift jack.

    I ran into the same conundrum. The cheapest fix is to buy rubber blocks/pucks to go in between your pinch weld and jack so you can jack up the car from a more rearward point to put the jackstand in the factory position ( which is very close to the front wheel )

    I use ramps that I had laying around but those don't help if you need to take the wheel off. The pucks are available online and cheap so don't overpay for model specific or fAnCy ones
