    2012 S5 and Sirius traffic

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello,
Hopefully this is in the right forum. If not, please let me know.
According to the manual, this unit will re-route based on traffic updates from the Sirius traffic subscription.
In the menu, it allows for dynamic routing, which would seem to support this.
On channel 0, there are 2 lines for radio ID (including 1 for data) but oddly they both have the same serial #.
When I called Sirius, they said this radio does not support it.
I tried to stop in at the Audi dealer, but the 12 year old service advisor says he'd never seen an Audi that old and I should just use Car Play .
Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Michael

We don't subscribe to Sirius, but Sirius gives us "trial" periods during certain U.S. holidays, last one was our Thanksgiving holiday, which lasted into early December (see attached). I assume Sirius Canada transmits this data, too, and that your radio unit can interpret it correctly. For reference, our radio part number is 4G0035082H. --g

Right, yours is MMI3G High / HNav.
Remember, you can pull PNG screen shots directly to a FAT32 SD card in slot 1 with the [<<]+[>>] console buttons.
Our Sirius receiver reports only one ESN, too (attached).

    Merry Christmas!
Yes, thanks, I forgot about the screen shot shortcut.
So why is saying that my radio does not support sirius traffic dynamic routing?
Any idea what I can do?

We don't have any reason to believe that our MMI3G nav systems DO NOT use the TMC traffic information for destination route planning. The problem, it seems to me, is whether TMC data is available from the radio -- our Green Engineering Menu screen /radio/sdars/servicestatus reports whether a data subscription is present:
    Screen_44_231226_1717_0025.png

Oddly, Sirius/US didn't turn this on for us during the recent Christmas holiday (and I didn't capture the GEM status screen during our last freebie). --g

How did you get to that screen?
So the line indicates that you have a subscription and NOT that the hardware is capable correct?

That screen is from the Green Engineering Menu under radio > sdars > servicestatus.

Also take a look at GEM screen nav > tmc -- I don't have an example of this screen when we have "trial" TMC data, but it suggests the nav system knows about this data for route calculation. --g

Is the GEM enabled ? You can verify by inspecting Adaptation Channel 6 of Address 5F with VCDS or other VAG aware diagnostic tool; the value is set to '1' to enable. If you don't have VCDS or equivalent, an SD script can be used to enable the GEM. Button order is important, too: you need to press [CAR] slightly before [SETUP] and hold both until the GEM starts. --g

VCDS did the trick. Thanks! I'll let you know how I make out with Sirius. Michael

After struggling with Sirius, they finally agreed to activate the Traffic. However, it did not activate on the radio. I tried to log on to the web site to issue a Refresh Signal. It says that my request was successful but it never happens. The digging continues. . . .

What does the GEM /radio/sdars/servicestatus screen show, as in post #6, above ? --g
