Another reason to stop buying from ECS Tuning.

How this company is still operating is a mystery to me.
There are other much better options out there such as

    https://germanparts.ca

    Latest ECS horror story.

    - Placed an order on Aug 12.

    - No word from ECS until Oct 13. Email from ECS reads..
"There was an error processing your payment method. Please contact our Billing Department, do not resubmit your order. Simply reply to this email or call the Billing Department to resolve the issue"

    - I replied and reissues the payment.

    - Oct 16 I received another email from ECS...
    "Hello,
Looks like we made an error, the Spyder Constant Full-Zip - Mens Small you ordered was missing from shelf when we went to pick your order. We will have to reorder a replacement and expect to have it by November 2
We're very sorry for the inconvenience. Please let us know if you have any questions. Talk to you soon. "

    - Oct 31 I received another email from ECS...
    "Hello,
I am reaching out about your past order for the audi pullover it looks like Audi has changed the price on this since we last ordered it the new price is linked below, let me know if you still wanted to order this item as the price has changed."

    - They were requesting 4x what I had already paid for (twice).

    - I did a live chat with them on Nov 3.

They said it was not there problem and I would have to pay 4x if I wanted the items. I was not happy and they refunded my order after refusing to allow a manager to review the order.

    - At the end of the conversation was the worst of it though.

" sir this is over a sub 200 dollar order , i hope you find something in life that makes you happy because this is out of proportion to the situation , have a wonderful say and a great weekend this chat will be closing in 10 seconds
    Kodey L. "

To say that because my order was not of a great value that I was not important enough to be brought to a managers attention is despicable.

ECS I am done with you and all of you should be done with them as well.

I will post the transcripts in the adjoining post as to not clutter the main one.

The majority of your story was frustrating to read but that ending statement was just ridiculous and uncalled for.

They should just update their site to say "if you aren't going to spend over $200, don't waste our time ordering".

Call ECS, press 4 for billing and ask for Tiffany; I recently had a set of great experiences with her and she resolved all of my issues immediately, but the other CS or chat reps were incredibly difficult and illogical inbetween my contact points with her specifically who again resolved all of my issues each time with a single hold. It might not make a bit of difference but it’s worth a shot. This isn’t an issue for chat IMO although I agree that last statement is totally wild and uncalled for in any CS situation. I’m not necessarily a big ECS fan either and prefer to order elsewhere when I can as well.

Also curious, was your ordered item out of stock or something? A month between contact is pretty long but maybe I missed something or misread something in your OP.

Why are you ordering clothes from a place that you know or should know is now in the business of “drop shipping”? Pretty much all these discount online part stores (since COVID) have stopped stocking a lot of the stuff they sell and just like other German parts stores online outsource their parts procurement and drop ship everything. This is how they’re able to offer lower prices overall. Less overhead and they don’t have to come off of capital to run the business since they don’t have the inventory overhead. They take your order, they take your money, they then order what you ordered from their source (which is generally giving them a good deal because they buy in bulk across many of these partner companies which are all banded together). Then that parts place ships your stuff out to you.

This is why you can go to a few German parts places online and see that their part look-up system is the same and a lot of times makes the same mistakes in compatibility with your model car. Hell, sometimes their storefront is exactly the same as another and the branding is just different.

A good example of this is Fitment Industries. They’re owned and run by the same guy who owns other online wheels businesses. All the websites are somewhat similar looking and the UI for fitment and ordering is exactly the same. It’s not coincidence. It’s how the industry is now… pretty much cornered by the same owners/investors who started the different business to garnish as much of the business as possible from people. They’ll even sometimes compete on prices to make it seem advantageous to the end user when in fact it all comes into the same pot (different LLC’s bottom line, but same owners on the big picture backend). It’s actually quite genius really. You think you’re taking your money somewhere else and you’re not, just the frontman is different. Lol

My first order with them was for a magnetic drain plug with copper washers and their billet dipstick back in September, both said ships in 1 day.

Over a month later, and a few follows up they said the drain plug was on back order. Funny, still shows available with ships in 1 day online!

Follow up again, it's finally back "in stock".

Get a phone cal a day later..."because it's been over a month the payment through paypal expired, please pay again"...I just paid via my CC on the phone right there.

For a first time buyer with ECS I was not impressed.

I ordered a new OE water pump, gaskets, oil and filter through FCP the same day as my ECS order and everything showed up in (2) days with no issues!

I have ordered from ecs a few times with no issues. Bought a control arm kit and some shock and struts no issues. My last order was a little disappointing. Ordered four Zimmerman rotors and two sets of pads. The rotors had no boxes. Just four rotors slamming around inside the shipping box. Had lots of scratches in the coating on the hats and it’s allowed rust lines to form quickly on the hats. I didn’t even have a way to really verify they were Zimmerman rotors. That’s the only issue I’ve had. I feel they should have been listed as open box and discounted. Usually any item no box is listed as such.
